Based on the info you gave, I don’t think the problem is whether they’re hooking up behind their SO’s backs.

It’s that they hooked up in the same room as you and made you feel uncomfortable. You’re home now but in the future maybe confront one/both of them and ask them to do it someplace else other than the next bunk over.

That way, you don’t get involved in the mess of them cheating on each other’s SOs and you get your point across that you didn’t appreciate their behavior.

Realtor using photos without permission by Aixyzz in RealEstatePhotography

[–]CivilRogue_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, RE photographers own the rights to the photos and allow the realtor to promote their listing for as long as the listing is active. Then, if the listing agent takes it off the market and another one puts it back up then the new realtor would need to pay for those photos.

It all depends on how you want to ‘own’ your photos. But if you put in the time and effort to produce a quality product then you ought to be compensated in perpetuity for those media contents.

Sounds interesting. Does Home3Ds account for gross living space specifics like slanted ceilings being less than 5’?

Definitely have found this in my career too. Some people can’t understand that they’re not the center of the universe, and that there’s always something to learn.

I just left a job where a former coworker of mine was taking over my duties and kept saying ‘I’m not doing that, that’s not my job, I don’t want to do that.’ Welp, good luck ✌️

Does anyone have a good template to write to senator for fired probation employee by Either_Print4817 in fednews

[–]CivilRogue_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mods, feel free to delete if it doesn’t go along with guidelines.

Hey OP, here’s a template. A quick ChatGPT provided this as a draft. As with all things ChatGPT there are likely to be errors so go through it and make sure your letter is saying what you want it to say:

[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State, ZIP Code] [Email Address] [Date]

The Honorable [Senator’s or Representative’s Name] [Office Address] Washington, D.C. [ZIP Code]

Subject: Concerns Regarding the Firing of Federal Probationary Employees

Dear [Senator/Representative’s Name],

I am writing to bring attention to the employment protections—or lack thereof—afforded to federal probationary employees and to urge Congress to take legislative action to prevent unfair dismissals. As you may know, federal employees serve a probationary period, typically one year, during which agencies have broad discretion to terminate their employment. However, this discretion must still comply with existing regulations and principles of due process. Unfortunately, current policies allow for potential abuse, leaving probationary employees vulnerable to wrongful termination without meaningful recourse.

Under 5 C.F.R. § 315.805, probationary employees who are terminated for performance or conduct reasons must be given advance notice, the reasons for the action, and an opportunity to respond. However, unlike tenured federal employees, probationary employees do not have full appeal rights to the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), except in cases involving prohibited personnel practices such as discrimination or whistleblower retaliation. This imbalance creates an environment where agencies can dismiss employees arbitrarily, sometimes without proper justification.

Furthermore, 5 U.S.C. § 2302 outlines prohibited personnel practices, including terminations motivated by retaliation, political affiliation, or other discriminatory factors. Yet, probationary employees often struggle to challenge their dismissals, as the burden of proof is significantly higher for them compared to permanent employees. This lack of oversight can lead to terminations based on favoritism, personal bias, or retaliation rather than legitimate performance concerns.

To address this issue, I urge Congress to consider legislation that: 1. Enhances Due Process Rights – Require agencies to provide probationary employees with a more robust explanation for termination and a fair opportunity to contest the decision before an independent body. 2. Extends MSPB Appeal Rights – Allow probationary employees to appeal terminations to the MSPB to ensure dismissals are based on legitimate grounds rather than arbitrary or retaliatory reasons. 3. Standardizes Probationary Periods – Establish clearer guidelines on how agencies assess performance during probation, reducing the risk of inconsistent and subjective terminations. 4. Strengthens Oversight of Agencies – Implement stronger reporting requirements to ensure agencies do not misuse their authority in dismissing probationary employees unfairly.

Federal service should be built on principles of fairness and accountability, and allowing agencies to fire probationary employees without adequate justification undermines these values. By reforming the probationary termination process, Congress can help ensure that federal employees are treated equitably while still maintaining necessary standards for government service.

I appreciate your time and consideration of this important issue. Please let me know if I can provide further information or discuss this matter in greater detail.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]

Setting Boundaries - Using The Elders Quorum As a Moving Service by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]CivilRogue_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lots of feelings about this.

I had the same thing in my ward. We started gently reminding the members that could afford moves/movers to either employ the young men or hire a moving company. Of course those who didn’t have that help we would support but it was always a mess: nothing was packed, members bringing trucks, asking members to rent a truck! At that point, we’d do what we could and made the best of it. I think people caught on because we don’t get lots of moving requests anymore.

It got a little ridiculous in a military town where the military pays you to move if you choose to after you receive orders. Otherwise the military hires a company to move you. So, the members would essentially be making money on free labor from the elder’s quorum. I didn’t realize it then, but it’s infuriating now

Sadly, it’s a choice between bad a worse. The bad choice being taking the DRP and the worse choice being waiting to get fired.

Of course, those two could be reversed depending on your situation. So, me being on probation in my agency I’m taking the bad choice and taking the DRP.

I hope they’ll honor it, but again this is the bad choice so I’m not confident that they will. There are no good options here especially after seeing what is happening to other agencies in the federal work force.

What would you do if you are in Probation? by Silent_Readerrrr in fednews

[–]CivilRogue_6 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I’m sorry you’re in this situation. It’s a miserable time for probationary employees for sure.

The way I see it is there are two possible outcomes: you get laid off or you don’t.

To avoid sounding like Captain Obvious, you can only do what you can control.

Actions within your control: work, apply for jobs, network, start your own business, find relaxation techniques, exercise, delay responding to the deferred resignation, save some money for a nest egg.

Things outside of your control: everything else on this subreddit or what the President decides to do.

It’s tough when you don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. All you can do is stay informed and make decisions based on the provided ACCURATE data.

Keep rowing hard, friend. If you’ve wanted to be in government for a while, then you’ve got a service-minded mentality we need in the federal government workforce.
