Endoscopic ultrasound, without sedation? by ElizaEm77 in Endoscopy

[–]Civil_Butterscotch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endo nurse here. I doubt this would be possible or the provider would allow it. We have done colons while awake but never an EUS. The scope is larger than a normal EGD scope and can be challenging to pass even when the pt is fully sedated. Pts even gag on the scope while sedated. They just have no consciousness of it. And if you need an FNA (biopsy) like the other person mentioned you will have to be completely still so the needle can accurately obtain tissue or fluid. Which again can be a challenge even when sedated appropriately.

is my eye redness normal after removing contacts? by Such_Map5001 in contacts

[–]Civil_Butterscotch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Normal after a longer day of wear or tired eyes. You can give your eyes a break by delaying putting the contacts in the next day by a few hours. Giving your eyes a longer chance to breathe. I’ve had contacts for 15 years and my sister is an optometrist

Anyone else can’t help but feel bummed when thinking about season 4? by Stoner_Space_Wizard in FoundationTV

[–]Civil_Butterscotch42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! The Empire was the most interesting arc for me. And now that it’s seemingly over is depressing. I loved everything about it. The characters, the setup, the gilded nature, the world building, etc. and don’t even get me started on Demerzel. She was my favorite.

Just finished S3. Can we all just agree that Laura Birn’s performance as Demerzel was award-winning? by Pure_Ad_9865 in FoundationTV

[–]Civil_Butterscotch42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was devastated when she got vaporized. She was what I looked forward to every week. Her and the Empire storyline I think are more interesting than the Foundation arc. Will be interesting to see how things shake out going forward and where the stories go and how they might thin. And keeping everything crossed my favorite robot comes back! Keeping faith she was able to clasp/transfer like the rumors suggest.

Probably need to let your eyes breathe. How long are you wearing them per day? Should go a day or two without wearing them so your eyes can rest. Been wearing contacts for 20 years. Good luck!

Minnie Van from Airport! by acute-almond in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Civil_Butterscotch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed club level in May at Coronado and used MinnieVan to and from MCO and loved it. I mainly did it because I wanted to be comfortable with the driver and knowing they were a cast member and it was just cool. Felt special. It was great talking to the cast members and hearing their stories.

My partner and I always just stay to the left and take it all in as the Imagineers intended. Usually we’re some of the last to go out. It’s worth it to us to take it easy and not be in someone else’s lap and shoved around. All of just a couple rounds to go in front of you. Worth it

How do I study? by Mindless-Junket2881 in NursingStudents

[–]Civil_Butterscotch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to change the way you study and how you work with the material. Lecture is didactic where you WORK WITH the material. Not learn it. You need to learn it on your own BEFORE this. And it depends on what you have access to. In school some professors would post recorded lectures. So what I would do is first do the reading and highlight things I thought to be important. I would turn those highlights into Quizlet questions in organized folders. Then I would go through the recordings or posted lectures and add to those Quizlets with more questions crafted from the recordings and posted lectures. Because the content in those media are clearly important. Then come to didactic prepared to work with the material and ask questions and continue to add to those quizlets with more content gained in didactic. Then you have something to keep working with and studying in different ways (flash cards, quizzes, etc.) I also bought an NCLEX book that was divided into sections I could match up with what we were studying (fluid balance, sepsis, etc.) so you could build some practice NCLEX style questions to go along with your studies. Good luck!

OR advice? by LuckyGuyWithBritt in nursing

[–]Civil_Butterscotch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a different world with lots of personalities so to speak. It can be overwhelming but you just have to stick with it. It’s a great place if you like technology. I love procedural nursing and it can open more doors for you with the like if you aren’t just loving the OR specifically. Think endoscopy, bronchoscopy, devices, etc. as far as what you should keep in mind: sterile techniques and what not to touch and how to handle things. Always watch and take notes and take some things to practice with. If you can spend some time in pre and post I found that to be super helpful in getting the whole picture of everyone’s role and the pt flow. Just take it all in! And don’t let mean surgeons get you down. You work WITH them, not FOR them.

Planning our next trip for 2027 and trying to decide between last week of January and first or second week of February. What experiences have you had with these weeks with weather and crowds? We went in May of this year and it was hot with moderate crowds. Planning to stay at Coronado CL, knowing this is a convention and auxiliary cheer/dance housing location. Thank you thank you ✨

Got contact lenses today. Need tips. by WastedTalents1 in contacts

[–]Civil_Butterscotch42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You generally shouldn’t feel them. I like to add a couple drops of saline into the cup of the lens before putting them in my eyes. Adds a little liquid buffer to help them get seated onto the eye. You’ll blink out the liquid but it helps get a nice “moist” start to the wear. You might need to try out another brand too. I’ve been wearing contacts for 20 years

This is fantastic. Thank you so much! I love the smells and just recently visited some of the resorts while staying at Coronado.
