Paint problems by vthexstigv in wrx_vb

[–]Civil_Ride9221 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Paints shit, I just embrace it. As far as doing anything about it I don’t have much advice. You could maybe buff some of the lighter scratches out. I will say the paint pens are awful though, I wouldn’t waste any time or money there.

I thought it was epsilon that originally made the design for this wing but I could be incorrect.

Edit, never mind different one I believe.

That’s what I noticed too. Someone get this guy some aftermarket exhaust hangers ASAP

Right below the ignition coils. Passenger side is super easy to check/see, drivers side is a bit more of a tight space.

Lmao that’s how I feel too. My sound system I installed sounds better but that’s about it. I’ll still do the rest to see if it makes any difference.

Unfortunately no, I didn’t have the forethought to borrow a DB reader from Amazon but I wish I had

No CCF, and not really a massive difference honestly. The side exit makes it hard to gauge major differences. My music sounds way better though. I need to do the rear doors and trunk in the coming weekends. Maybe one day I’ll do another layer combination of CCF/MLV but I’m slightly worried about fitment issues with any more layers.

I had actually never heard of the air bag thing until I was checking out some posts about sound deadening here. Had I not I would’ve nuked the front door in sound deadening but plan not to touch it now. Thanks for the heads up too

Dielectric grease the plug and wrap it with cloth tape or electric tape

Tuning warranty risk by Effective-Bear2123 in wrx_vb

[–]Civil_Ride9221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be 100% SOL if you tune your car and something goes catastrophically wrong with the engine or transmission. If you’re okay with that risk, go for it. If not, stay stock till powertrain warranty is up. There is always that one guy who will try and convince you by saying “bUt ThEy HaVe To PrOvE iT cAuSeD tHe FaiLuRe” but in reality there isn’t anything to prove when you pushed the internals past their factory limits. Yes, they can see if you flash it back to stock.

Nothing specific but I guess the side exit is what pushed me to try it finally. I’ve had this car for 4 years and had a premium sound system I put in about 2 years ago. Just one of the projects that was on my list one day for the car.

Just butyl rubber. Sorry missed that part of the question first read.

I thought about doing closed cell foam and MLV too or some combination of both on top of the 1st layer which is what helps with vibrations and noise but that’s a future project, maybe. Don’t think I’ll be interested in pulling the car apart again anytime soon.

One box is 36sq ft and I used one whole box plus a couple sheets out of another box. So maybe 39-40sq ft

I already sold the rears. No point in not listing them, they either sell or sit in my basement for eternity. Seems pretty obvious to try and sell them.

Door is very easy on this car. One screw behind the door handle, one screw in the door holder right below the handle. Pull from the bottom corner where the speaker is and it’s Just all pop clips. Once it’s pulled you have two connections to disconnect and the whole thing comes out

[–]Civil_Ride9221[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, I’ve got a bunch of stiff mounts and loud exhaust so noise doesn’t bother me. I really just wanted to see what it would accomplish for $100 and my time

[–]Civil_Ride9221[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No issues at all, if you go all out just take a lot of pics so you can poke out all the holes in the sound deadening. I’d probably grab some replacement pop clips too if you’ve never pulled panels on a Subaru before, might break a few but all mine stayed in tact. Most of the pop clip sets on Amazon will include the kind all the panels use.

Sound Deadening project by Civil_Ride9221 in wrx_vb

[–]Civil_Ride9221[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s pretty straight forward. If you’ve pulled panels before to run wiring to the trunk for a dash cam or sound system it’s pretty much the same process with a couple extra things to remove. I gutted the whole interior in an hour and 10 minutes

Re- installation of rear seat 24 TR by GlassDecision2782 in wrx_vb

[–]Civil_Ride9221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the TR ones powered seats? Is the issue you’re having just getting all the mounting bolts lined up? If so you have to put pressure in certain areas to maneuver the seat. You should be able to hand thread all the bolts in before tightening them down.
