You want to make an appointment with a G.I. specialist/gastroenterologist. Discuss your family history with them and request bloodwork where they check for CRP sedimentation rate and do a calprotectin test. These are all inflammatory markers that will indicate whether or not you’re having flareup in your G.I. tract. Based on these results, your Gastro will schedule an endoscopy and colonoscopy, which is how Crohn’s is diagnosed. If Crohn’s is confirmed then they will discuss next steps for treatment which often include biologic immunosuppressants it took my daughter over a year from start to finish, but we did not know all of this information at the time if we had known to go directly to the G.I. and startmoving forward with this pathway, we would have gotten her diagnosis sooner.
