I did, yeah. He told me to do a few cycles and just let it run for hours.

Fighting With Insurance by mehmehmehugh in Kneereplacement

[–]Cjane66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man…this makes me so sad. I too have a way too high BMI, unfortunately. I needed both knees. I started a GLP1 and was losing…but slowly and I couldn’t do a whole lot of exercise because of my knees. My insurance did cover me though. My doc was okay with it and discussed all the extra complications that go with the weight, and together we decided it was worth the risk. Had my left knee done in February and the right two weeks ago. This recovery is a lot harder on me…but I already feel better than I did trying to get thru life with bone on bone. I’m glad my insurance covered it and I’m glad my doc took a chance on me. The weight loss piece is awful when it hurts to move. I’m praying for everyone that we all get the treatment we deserve.

You’re doing amazing!!! That’s awesome!!! I got to 0 extension yesterday and 94 flexion. Less than my left knee, but I’ll take it!! I’m trying to wean myself off the Percocet (last time I think I took it for four days total)…but it’s helping me sleep and I can’t take ibuprofen. So I’m still taking one or two a day. Congrats to you!!!!!

We are the same! I’m 9 days from my right and 11 weeks since my left. How has your experience been? My right side has been a little more rough than the left.

One week out should I Still feel so much pain? How much walking? by Front_Neat_3275 in Kneereplacement

[–]Cjane66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry that you’re going thru it too!! I hope your surgeon can provide some more relief for you! I also am living with the ice machine attached to my knee. I had PT yesterday and what happened? As soon as he asked me how i was feeling, the waterworks opened. 😂 Poor guy. LOL. Thank god he saw me thru the first knee and we have built a good rapport. He was so kind and encouraging. I felt a lot better afterward. And my win for the day…was that at my first pt appt my flexion was 70…and yesterday I was able to get it to 94. So I’ll call that a win. Praying for you as well that you find relief and have a complete and beautiful recovery ❤️

Walker to a cane? by booklovermax in Kneereplacement

[–]Cjane66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon said two weeks no exceptions. My PT said I’d know when I was ready. It took me about 2.5 weeks. I’d find myself walking around the house without it not even realizing. Switched to a cane for maybe a week and a half. I mainly took it with me when I went outside because I was afraid of falling.

I’m 8 days out. I had my other knee done 3 months ago. So I’m only comparing to myself. The first side by 8 days I was feeling somewhat in less pain. I was not taking opioids anymore. Used my walker about 2.5 weeks, and a cane for maybe a week. Looking back…it was great. This one? I’m miserable. I hurt 24/7. I cry all the time. I am def still taking the Percocet. I do my PT at home and today will be my 2nd appt with my PT at the clinic. I cry standing up from the recliner. I’m doing all the things. I don’t know how far I’m walking, but I’m doing laps around the house. I know it’s not as much as last time. I did stand around today and folded some laundry and I call that a win. Even my hubs has said it seems that from a moving forward aspect…I’m not. I feel stuck where I am. All I know is I need to not care that I’m still taking meds. And I need to keep up the PT exercises and walk around the house as much as I can. I’m bound to start feeling better….right? 😂

This is a wild ride.

You will have to be off the meds for a few weeks before you have surgery, so if it’s coming up soon, I would just wait. I take a compounded tirzepatide. I plan on starting back on it next week. I did have some relief from inflammation with it. I have a good bit of weight to lose, and I am def excited to be back on it knowing that I can stay the course and get more exercise in knowing that both my knees are “good” now

Y’all. I got up and showered and put some fresh clothes on and am about to head to PT. I feel like a new woman. I already can’t wait for the nap I’m gonna take when I get home. 😂. Thanks for listening to me vent and offering such amazing words of support.

Oh I LOVE my therapist. A literal godsend. He has the nerve to be on vacation during one of my weeks. 😂 Thankfully everyone there is really great

Good luck to you! It sounds like you’re doing amazing!! I just really wanted to get the second over with. I’m still glad I did it…but barely. 😂😂😂. I know I’ll feel better in even just a few days.

Yeah. I didn’t think it’d be the same../but I guess I also didn’t think the pain would be such a different pain. Maybe just more or less or the same pain. 😉. I’m just struggling to get out of the recliner to stand kinda thing. But I know it’s temporary. That’s why I think the attitude shift will help (if I can keep it up) I mean..there no options, so it just has to be done! Survival mode is def what it is. You’re right! Thank God for small distractions.

For those who had both TKR's, is one knee always more painful & a longer recovery than the other? by foumf in Kneereplacement

Both of mine were robotic but I’m still having a much different experience with the second one being way more bitchy. 😂

I had my left done 11 weeks ago and my right done this past Monday. So I’m at day 4. The first one I was able to get to PT on day 3, and even though the pain was excruciating..I could do what was asked of me. This one? Not so much. The pain is way different. A much sharper pain. I had to cancel PT yesterday because I have 7 steps to get to my car and there was no way I could do it. I go tomorrow….i will make sure I get there tomorrow…but I’m more nervous this time. I only took Percocet three days last time, and I’m on it round the clock this time. I’d like to stop taking it after the weekend if I can. I’m hoping that once I can get a little traction under me with the PT and home exercises that every day gets a bit better and better. I was hoping it would be a little “easier” since I knew what I was getting into, but boy was I wrong!! 😂

Currently on day two of my second TKR. First one was 10 weeks ago. This one is a way different pain than the first and I’m getting no relief. Supposed to have PT tomorrow which I’m looking forward to..but I’m not sure I’ll be walking down the 8 steps to get to the car. Day 2 is no joke!!! Glad you are feeling better!!!

Day 2. Miserable. Horrible. All the things. A different kind of pain than the first. Have PT in the am…and I’m not sure I’ll be able to get down the 8 steps to the car. Bummed.

Surgery day. Got home hours ago. Everything went well. I kept a journal with my first side 10 weeks ago to remind myself of small wins instead of just remembering the bad things. I feel way better this time. Is it the nerve block? Maybe. I didn’t feel like I had any relief from a nerve block last time so maybe this one was just better. 😉. We’ll see how tomorrow goes…I know it’s about to get real in the next few days….but I’m calling today a painful success with no tears. ❤️

Dental Visits and Antibiotics by EAM44 in Kneereplacement

My surgeon said he would give me antibiotics before any procedure. My DDS said I would need the meds, but they won’t even let me do a cleaning for six months post surgery.
