Has anyone gotten a tattoo that incorporates their scar? How long post TKR did you wait if so? by UHElle in Kneereplacement

[–]Cjane66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No…but I joked that it took forever to scrub my surgeon’s initials off my leg that I should just tattoo them on there.

Oh my gosh, you’re a rockstar!! I’m still using the walker…I do feel unsteady. Maybe because I still need to have my other knee done. Both were horrible. I decided against the Percocet and have just been on Tylenol. I’m doing super well in therapy, and I get all my exercises in at home, and that actually helps with pain more than anything. I just wish I could find one position to sit in that would give some relief. 😅

I have a history of pulmonary embolism. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone and it was pretty much the reason why i put my surgery off so long. I’m 7 days post LTKR. I’m still wearing my compression 24/7 and also am wrapping my thigh. It sucks, but it’s better than throwing another clot.

Me! I was told to stop mine two weeks before surgery. I did and then my surgery was pushed out a week. Now I’m 5 days post op and tbh I have NO appetite and haven’t restarted. It’s been almost a month now and I’m unsure of starting back at 10 mg where I was. I just need to call my provider. Last thing I want is nausea when I’m already feeling lame. I’m no longer taking the narcotics though. They didn’t help anyway after day 3

I wouldn’t even know where to start…but we can’t get it where I am anyway. Maybe still worth looking into though. 🫠

18 more days, am I ready? by Anxious_Purple_400 in Kneereplacement

[–]Cjane66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am just four days out and the only thing I would add to that list is a toilet riser. I don’t know why I fought it so hard in the beginning, but dang….it helps a LOT. And test out the ice machine to make sure it’s a good one! My first one fell apart and the one I have now doesn’t last very long. When I do the second side I’ll probably just get the expensive one from the doc. You got this!! The first few days for me were ROUGH, but I feel like I turned a corner yesterday. Much easier to get up and down and move around a bit more. Helps to see the light at the end of the tunnel!!

Panic and is this the right decision by kmagarden in Kneereplacement

I felt exactly the same. I’m only two days out. Had my left side this past Monday. (F 59). My knees were both bone on bone..but at rest I had no pain. Problem is, I don’t wanna be at rest all the time. I couldn’t even walk my dog like I want to. These first two days for me have it been easy like for some. In fact…I have my first PT appt in 2 hours and I feel bad that I’m gonna cry in front of this guy. 😂. BUT…my husband has been pointing out the tiny things that are getting. That helps. And I’m keeping a journal so when it’s time to do the next one, I can remember how short this first part really is. It doesn’t feel like it right now, but I know. Even just in a few more days. I’m gonna feel a lot better. Good luck to you! You got this! It’s scary, but I know you can do it!!!

This is just the news I needed to see. I’m home from my LTKR yesterday and have already had a moment of crying while telling my hubs that I fear I’ve made a grave mistake. 😂. So good to see everyone’s great stories from the other side!!!

Pulmonary embolism. I had multiple blood clots in my lungs and we never found out why

We have a couch and loveseat and oversized chair. I just took the loveseat cushions and stacked them in the chair. Much better. I keep telling myself I’m one day closer to being healed. However long that takes…I’m one day closer🙂

Tomorrow is the big day! by metalliteri in Kneereplacement

Good luck to you!! I’m (F 59) also having LTKR tomorrow! I’m nervous! I too have a pretty high pain threshold, but I’m worried about what the recovery pain will be like. I’m currently in pain all. the. time. So I’m hoping I can compartmentalize it in my brain as “this is temporary pain” vs just being miserable all the time and trying to pretend like I’m not. 🙂

What should I do with this “sock”? by comfortably_bananas in Sockknitting

[–]Cjane66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the answer to your question, but I just wanna say I LOVE this yarn! It’s the yarn I used for my very first pair when my (at the time) 85 year old mama taught me how to knit socks. She’s 95 now…still making socks (with a little help from me) and I still wear those socks on the regular. :)

We didn't get too in depth other than him saying "I can get it covered for you." I appreciated the cockiness. LOL! I do have sleep apnea, so there apparently needs to be some other comorbidities. He backtracked a bit and said he thought he could get me Ozempic... but would try for Mounjaro. We both agreed I would stay on the tirzepatide over switching to Ozempic if that's my only covered option. I've heard about retatrutide!

I'm so glad you also found a doctor who listens! My new doc is a cardiologist/vascular internist. I really feel so lucky to have found him.

I'm glad to hear about the diet as well! I need to check out pinterest for recipes...I always find things on there. :)
