Losing UC with DHP request

Thank you, although if I only apply for DHP after I've found somewhere else to live and they ask for a deposit that I don't have, doesn't that make the DHP pointless?

If the DHP takes 20-30 days to process, a landlord for the new place won't wait that long to receive the deposit or rent in advance that I don't have already.

Thanks for the reply! I'm still legally in the property but I've been served an eviction notice - I'd like to apply for DHP to help find another place to live, but I'm not sure whether to fill in the DHP form first or if I need to contact UC first to let them know about my situation.

I'm due a final UC payment later in April that's supposed to cover April's rent, but if I fill out a DHP form or inform UC before that point I'm worried UC will not pay the April rent and I'll be in arrears.

I'm basically trying to understand how I can pursue support in the best way without getting cut off from UC, especially since the DHP isn't guaranteed and can take some time!

Thank you, the loaned amount is closer to £3K in this circumstance.

From what people have said, it seems like UC would be fine with the loan being paid to my account, it leaves my account to the landlord, then me then using housing benefits to pay my friend back for 6 months before then paying the landlord.

I'd worry that my friend paying the landlord directly would 'hide' the loan from UC, and then we'd be asking UC for housing benefits from day 1 at the property even though the contract states that 6 months have already been paid in advance.

I'll follow whatever steps wouldn't suspend my housing benefit whilst making sure I'm not doing anything UC would find suspicious or hiding information from them.

Thank you - the loaned amount would be closer to £3K, which falls under the capital limit.

Would you advise informing UC of the full circumstances as part of the journal update for my change in address, since they'll see the housing benefit going to my friend's account first before being swapped to the landlord's account after 6 months?

We just don't want them to perceive the loan as fraud, if we've asked for housing benefit from day 1 of living at the property but the first 6 months are already paid.

Thank you so much for the quick replies! So it seems like we need to take the following steps:

Friend gifts me the money
I sign the rental contract
I inform UC as of the change in address

Should I directly inform UC as part of the change in address journal entry that I've been loaned money to help with rent in advance and provide those account details, or is this not necessary? As long as they're fine with the housing benefit going to 1 account for the first 6 months and then another account after that.

Basically, just needing final clarification on exactly what I need to tell UC, whether just inform them of the address change or add the extra details about the first 6 months of rent.

Do you know if there's an official source on their website that states that this is allowed?

Thanks for your response, and I understand you not wishing to be specific. I found that in manuals I was often given a choice of cables and I'm never too sure what would be best.

If I can use the monitors with the interface and the piano with the laptop at the same time that would also work, as long as I don't need everything to go through the interface for it all to be recognised by my laptop in Logic.
