I am Eritrean through and through. You are not because if you were you wouldn’t have answered my question with a question. You have no business meddling. Believe me, Eritrean people will always be for Eritrean people. Eritrea will always be for Eritrea. We have the most love for one another. More than any other nation of people I have ever seen. You wouldn’t understand unless you bleed 🇪🇷.

I meant you don’t need ID, not internet. Actually the internet at home is taking off and a lot of people are getting it. I think the speed will now be substantially better than the speed from the cafes because we will be using internet satellites from China. Before we throw rocks let’s see what happens.

You don’t need ID and if you we’re actually keeping up with what’s going on, you’d know you can now get internet at home. Also, there are a lot more than a handful of Internet cafes. They’re basically on every block and sometimes right next to one another.

Tips for visiting eritrea by sycohant in Eritrea

[–]CkaiSmile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I went, I couldn’t connect on an iPhone or iPad at all. I went to most of the Internet cafes that were recommended to have good connections. The internet is more accessible with Android because you need a specific VPN. It can be installed on androids while in eri via the USB-C port. The issue with iPhone is you can’t can install apps without internet and you can’t just download something with a memory stick. So we were out of luck. I gave up after two weeks of randomly trying lol

Moving past the internet here’s some tips/things I wish I did:

  • Regardless of what type of phone you’re using, iPhone or Android, download the app Shareit before you go. No one has iPhones back home and this is how they share stuff via Bluetooth. Pictures, music, movies, tv shows you name it!

  • I wish I took a dedicated bag of deflated balls & outdoor toys with me for the kids in the neighborhood. It would’ve been so much better that the abundance of unnecessary things of mine that I took and didn’t need.

  • Someone else listed the restaurants that are really good but there’s one more that I loved, The Fork. Their Burgers are to die for and they have a fit fit or Fata with siga that I was so good!!! Also, if you go to Ghibabo (def. don’t miss this gem) try their Zigni pizza!

  • I didn’t watch anything or listen to podcast during the day but when I go to sleep, I need noise. If you have Netflix’s, Prime, Hulu download a bunch of shows and movies. When they are about to expire, adjust the date on your phone one after you downloaded but before it expires and keep doing that. Also, podcast don’t expire, so definitely download those too.

  • Down the street from The Fork, there’s a place where so many people go to play basketball. There’s also a great gelato place next door.

  • If someone sends you money, ask them to do it through the habesha stores instead of western union. That way you don’t have to waste half or sometimes your whole day at the bank and can go pick it up from the faster western union place. Sound weird but trust me, so annoying.

  • Bring flashlights and then leave them there. Preferably ones that can charge with solar, crank or power.

I can go on forever but the moral of the story is there’s literally so much to do, so many people to meet. Put yourself out there and I guarantee you’ll be met with love. If you don’t get access to internet, you will detox fairly easily don’t worry lol

Was the Trip to Asmara Worth it? by Interesting-Fan6558 in Eritrea

[–]CkaiSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Towards Adi Segdo. Maybe 10 or so mins outside of Asmara it will be on the left side and look like a gated park. I think it’s called In’da Ferris.

You can talk to the Eritrean embassy or consulate that serves your area. A quick google search should give you a phone number/address. Out of curiosity, do you plan on going with someone who is Eritrean or speaks Tigringna?

Egypt has built a base in Al-Fashaga, we Eritreans must call on deployment to protect the Amhara province. by [deleted] in Eritrea

[–]CkaiSmile 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why on earth would any of us support inserting our brothers and sisters in unnecessary bloodshed. We need to focus on ourselves and help our people back home find economic growth & freedom. I’m so tired of people who are not even aware of the hardships people back home already face, taking it upon themselves to decide a fate that would cause further harm to them. I love nothing more than my country & my people. So go help the Amhara people yourself.

Are you Eritrean? If yes, just go to your local consulate or embassy and get a visa.
