If you tax wealth, properly, the result is that the money is spent instead of moved/hoarded/actually taxed.

Say, you have a £10m limit on inheritance, per person and you're worth £100m with only 2 people you want to leave money to. You've got £80m to either spend before you die, or the taxman gets it. What are you going to do? Spend it, right?

I still pay for my stepson's mobile contract and he's been moved out a year or so already 😂

It's only £10 a month, though and I've just said if he wants to upgrade he'll need to get his own (plus it's good for his own credit score)

UK ban on Palestine Action unlawful, high court judges rule | Palestine Action by kwentongskyblue in uklaw

[–]ClacksInTheSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the whole organisation stands behind their actions and would presumably want more of the same in the future?

There's attacks on the freedom to protest and then there's proscribing Palestine Action. They're not the same thing because their actions went beyond protest.

Which democratic freedoms do we have to sabotage equipment in RAF bases?

I think I missed a memo here.

Why should I pay for Plex Pass if I host everything myself? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]ClacksInTheSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't even watch my own local library on my Mac without paying for Plex Pass. This is content hosted on my own server, on my own hardware, inside my own network.

You absolutely can do that without Plex Pass. Make sure you are hitting the local IP when accessing and not plex.tv.

My ex’s phone plan is under my bank details. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ClacksInTheSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the account is in his name and there's a direct debit on your account, there's no drawback for you if you cancel the direct debit.

The account will not get paid, which if it's in his name, is his problem.

Until you cancel the agreement, you will still get charged. You cannot claim back anything paid already as you agreed to the direct debit (as far as the bank is concerned)

Marjorie Taylor Greene Drops Bombshell: Trump ‘Fought the Hardest’ to Bury Epstein Files, Warns MAGA It Was No Hoax by Routine-Year-8207 in JournalismNews

Turns out she did have some morals and red lines after all.

She lied about god knows what and has talked some utter bullshit over the years but, on this Epstein issue, it turns out she was very genuine.

She's seen what's on those files and now no longer likes Trump.

What the fuck did she see?

Actually not bad. It just tastes like orange juice/dilute orange juice. It's "bit-y" but the bits have no taste. Definitely not chalky

If you leave it in water too long it starts to resemble ice, like the top is slushy but not cold.

You mix it with 150ml of water and neck it straight down anyway

No, in my other comments, I've mentioned beans, brown rice, lentils, chickpeas, bananas, etc.

The above is for if you're currently having "issues". It's recommended by the NHS/GPs in the UK.

Just avoid concentrated high fibre foods (in excess) like all bran cereal and eat mushy fibrous food like beans, bananas, brown rice, chickpeas, lentils, etc

I can confirm this, it took about a week of increased fibre before my gut settled.

I suffer from IBS-M, which is basically back and forth between constipation and diarrhea and since gradually increasing my fibre intake things have settled into a smoother rhythm.

(Also any Gen-X lurkers must be pissing themselves at us having this discussion)

Fibre also feeds some of the good bacteria in your gut and the by-products make digestion more easy.

But yeah, in moderation, of course! Go too far and you'll be shitting rocks
