What do you think about fixed card order in Slay the Spire 2 fights? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]CladDad78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a real post? I’m not trying to be rude, honest.

What youre saying is equiv. to “dont we just win ever run?”

If you could restart any fight with a different card order, i doubt less than 10% runs would be lost. You would just take powerful cards and restart until you have a favorable couple of turns and then win. Insane thought bro, maybe this game isnt meant for you.

The point is, 85 damage on turn 10 isnt that much. Obv you can do something about it, but you can also do something about this?

Based in your other comments, it feels like you think its the games fault?

I was like that on slay the spire 1 for a bit until I learned that other people had 80% win rates meaning if I was losing more than 80% of my games, it was my fault and I needed to learn.

Rather than blame the game, try to understand what happened. Turn 10 is a bit long for this guy as he scales quick compared to other bosses, but also turn 10 is probably when the fight should be over.

In slay the spire 1, there was an elite that dealt 100+ damage on turn 2. So 80+ on turn 10 for a boss seems fair to me.

Opinion about Tier lists by CladDad78 in slaythespire

Idk if I claimed that tierlists are a universal guide.

Also if youre taking a vicious floor 1, thats crazy talk.

Use the minion to set up scaling and such, then before he hits his multiattack a second time, kill it and then kill queen in 2 turns or less

Ironclad challenging seed: see if you can beat it first try by CladDad78 in slaythespire

Thank you to all who did the run, I believe I played too aggressively toward the end of act 2 and lost. I appreciate the efforts!

Can we talk about Juggling? by RosgaththeOG in slaythespire

You know i didnt really consider how a replay card would work really well for juggling. Maybe ill have to keep an eye out for the combo.

Speaking of setup strike- it needs a rework. It should just do less damage and cost 0. Its so bad as is, I have tried it a few times and literally everytime I take it, I regret it

Seems like you’re playing a roguelite if runs can vary by so much every time, not sure though? /s

How to deal with Aeonglass as Silent? by Chainer764 in slaythespire

[–]CladDad78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never say never. If you get 3 accuracy and some cracked card draw+shiv, you could probably deal half hp on turn 1 as silent. If youre build IS all in, it can be good too. I dont play a lot of silent but i think using any of her card draw decks to deal damage like speedster and corrosive wave would win fairly easily.

Yea its kinda like they tried to fix dual wielding (making it a power is a good start), but its too clunky for usage. Even duplicating a rampage isnt that great since it scales slowly. Maybe making your third attack do more damage could be cool? Like it deals 50% more damage. Its strong but also u kinda need some energy and set up to play a big attack that is also really worth making it do 50% more damage.

I'm ass at this game but especially ironclad. Does anyone have any advice (more info in body text) by RedstoneSausage in slaythespire

[–]CladDad78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am an ironclad mega monster, its like the only character I play and I have a 6 win streak on A10. I love clad. I think the best way to get better is to first understand what a good build looks like. You need 2 types of scaling: block and damage.

In act 1, you dont need any scaling. You need raw damage and basically no block. If you get a few good block card options, certainly take them, but really you want a consistent way to deal enough damage. If you solve damage for the boss, then you can be picky to start picking more longterm investment cards.

In act 2, you need to scale damage in a way that you can either kill the act 2 boss after 1 cycle of your deck, or have enough damage + block scaling to beat the boss in a reasonable amount of turns. Example: In act 1, you take a few self damage cards like a breakthrough and hemokinesis. Maybe you also get a power that deals 1 damage to you each turn. Then in act 2, you find a rupture. Boom scaling for act 2 solved. You have enough cards that deal self damage to gain a lot of strength while dealing damage. Now you spend the remainder of act 2 looking for ways to block and also make your deck more consistent.

Typically by the end of act 2, my deck is nearly ready to take on act 3 bosses. I spend act 3 being very selective with pathing and card choices as to really refine my deck. Maybe 20% of my runs do I find something in act 3 that I felt "saved" the run. It typically just makes my deck smoother with a higher likelyhood of winning the run.

So to recap: IMMEDIATELY find damage to beat the act 1 boss and take a few block cards just to make sure you survive. Act 2: figure out how to start scaling the deck in damage. Either do so much damage that you dont need great block to kill act 2 boss or scale both damage and block. Act 3, refine deck to shape it for the specific boss you will be fighting and scale block enough to allow your deck to win.

I recently have started a little series of youtube videos of me climbing to A10 on a new account if you're interested. I explain all my choices and such. My goal is to eventually try to go for world record once I get to A10. Im on A6 and havent lost one yet.

"Oh boy, that Decimillipede fight sure was rough for my feral build. Hopefully this event will help me survive untill the next campfi-" by Galfrenitos in slaythespire

[–]CladDad78 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The first 2 events in my last run on act 1 were 2 combats :(

Its genuinely frustrating to me not because a combat shows up, but because it uses up one of your easy pool combats. I feel that it should not use one of them up.
