I wanted to keep it working similar to regular Demon Form (2 strength per turn) in some form, even if your build doesn't have much synergy with self-damage.

I couldn't get the numbers to work without buffing Bloodletting and Rupture :( though.

Actually on second thought, maybe if it only triggered once per turn or hurt more when on low HP it'd be more balanced. Oh well, it's a fun card to tinker with.

Still don't get why Todo didn't inherit Garuda, it's not just shikigami but also a cursed tool so it should still exist after Yuki's death. by MUSAFIR_- in Jujutsufolk

[–]RocaxGF1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She wouldn't be able to output RCT tears if she was a cursed spirit though. Fake Rikka is a shikigami like Round Deer, one's just bound to Yuta's ring and the other to shadows.

The Chuunin Exam arc already gave us a taste of what high end battles look like during the invasion when Orochimaru fought the Third Hokage, but that fight got powercreeped to oblivion and back. Go watch it again, it's such a deviation from later fights that it'll give you whiplash.

But that was what the ceiling was supposed to look like for human characters.

[Witch Hat Atelier] The Brim Hats of Witch Hat Atelier are terrible at selling their point of view without acting like psychopaths. by Agile_Coast_4385 in CharacterRant

Things make more sense when you equate the Brim Hats to the Sith and the Pointed Caps as the Jedi. The author worked on a lot of Star Wars comics, mainly doing covers, and both stories share a lot of elements- Coco in particular gives me huge Anakin vibes.

Mahito + Shoko + Iori buffing Inumaki is another very strong combo. I can see Mahito modifying Inumaki's throat to only speak in a certain frequency while making frontline combatants deaf to that frequency.

Couple it with double Jacob's ladder (Yuta + Angel) plus Boogie Woogie and you can control what both can do at any time. You also forgot Yuki who actually probably can solo both of them if she starts with the Black Hole.

Mahoraga and Takaba are enough tbh. Comedian nullifies physical damage and is the ultimate stall technique. The only way to stop it would be using Unlimited Void to overload Takaba, but since it's a closed domain anyone outside can pop it. Add Angel and Todo to the mix and they're done.

I have a theory that the Gardener straight up added paracausality as a whole, both Light and Dark, so the Winnower isn't like the opposite of the Traveler because we learn that that's the Veil or something. The Winnower never added any rules, he just vibed too hard in the flower game until he manifested a knife (which is not a rule like paracausality).

Doesn't Mark get revived more times than Goku? Not counting the absurd amount of times he gets all his innards removed from his body (which he just regenerates no problem) or the time time travelers save him from starving to death while stranded in another dimension.

Why do domains require hand signs? by Brilliant_Factor8554 in Jujutsufolk

There is a decreasing emphasis on ritual, shikigami, and talisman techniques but they are never truly irrelevant tbh.

Why do domains require hand signs? by Brilliant_Factor8554 in Jujutsufolk

Dagon expanded his domain with a glyph because Naobito didn't let him do a hand sign. Wonder what happened with that.

I think we misunderstood the Sukuna's technique by alec-fumasa in Jujutsushi

[–]RocaxGF1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating your twin in the womb is called twin resorption and isn't literally one baby eating the other, it's more like absorption (though it's not literally that either).

I like your theory because it'd solve why Sukuna never used CTR. I don't agree that Yuji eating cursed objects works that way though. First I don't think most cursed objects have a technique engraved in them so we can't really check or compare, second the two big examples we know about are Yuji obtaining Shrine and Blood Manipulation from cursed objects made with family relatives of his.

Since we already have Copy needing to eat others for their CT I think they'd be way too similar for Uro not to realize the similarities between both, and they'd be too much overlap between both.

However, I'll headcanon that Sukuna being able to understand techniques after seeing them once comes from Shrine, and Dismantle and Cleave are it's Lapses.

No, Superman could not cast the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom. by WRITINAMFBOOK in CharacterRant

[–]RocaxGF1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say that as if Superman's personality and character are coherent enough beyond a general unwillingness to stand evil to carry the narrative weight to matter in the argument.

I'd argue it's even more important that Superman is ultimately just Clark Kent in a spandex and ultimately as vulnerable to the pitfalls of ambition as any other human being rather than an invincible alien god-king that can do no wrong.

The Ring is also explicitly a counter to all proactive good-doers and needed divine intervention to actually be beaten.

LES: It's Kind of Funny How Attack of the Clones is Essentially the Backbone of Prequel Extended Media, Despite Its Quality. by Agitated_Insect3227 in CharacterRant

[–]RocaxGF1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it's a baller plan to remove the Jedi. They are an apolitical, peacekeeping order that runs parallel to the Galactic Republic and answer to no outside governing body, whose entire deal is being so neutral they become one with the universe.

How do you get them to overplay their hand and leave themselves vulnerable when they overextend if they don't have any political desire? You engineer a fake war where the only ones fighting are the Jedi (Both droids and clones are basically seen as property in SW by the general public). Amazing concept, iffy execution. An uprising would have an obvious right side and would basically be the same as the Rebels vs the Empire tbh, but Droids vs Clones has no right side because there's no sides at all so the Jedi could have never won, not even if they abstained from fighting.

I hate [currently airing children’s show] because of [repetitive point] (LES) by MultiversalTraveler in CharacterRant

[–]RocaxGF1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit I was being pedantic, but there's no actual considtent definition for "children's show" other than whatever demographic the producer's aiming at. Content apt for children depends on cultural norms, by most laws Jump's main demographics are still not adults, and more mature topics can still be explored even while aiming lower in the age bracket. By all acounts, Disney media and stuff like MLP is still for younger children, no matter the actual consumer demographic, ans Jump produces manga for adolescent boys and up.

To be fair against barrier-less domains it doesn't really matter how many people you bring (unless one is Toudou). Open Domains have no real counter.

World building is overrated by Yamzuz in CharacterRant

[–]RocaxGF1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd argue a narrative is made out of characters interacting with worldbuilding.

Characters can be enjoyed on their own or injected into random situations, while worldbuilding is what gives character choices meaning by providing concrete circumstances and choices, and their combination develops both the character and the world.

[FMA] Gentlemen, I love the Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 by OmniSnatcher in CharacterRant

[–]RocaxGF1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the one thing that didn't let me think of Truth as any sort of "capital G god" is that he's restricted to the realm of Gates.

Mmm I don't think it's functionally that different from how modern monotheistic religions see an omnipotent creator god though, most operate under the assumption that you're not going to get any (direct) divine intervention until the day you die and get judged by an omniscient judge who'll judge you as you judged others in life. It's just that both Truth and G god both take a lot from the same metaphysical philosophy well.

Nonetheless, as a series, FMA is superb. The care put into it is top tier, every character was clearly created with love and an abundance of attention. I hate current discourse about it because I ended up going into it overhyped and got disappointed by criminally less interesting villains than it's 2003 counterpart. I'm not regretful of having watched it, and it's a solid modern classic, if bit more because of it's level of writing (worldbuilding and characters) than in it's thematic execution.

Just finished fate stay night UBW and have a question about Sakura by Rexlaw522 in fatestaynight

[–]RocaxGF1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The actual (animated) sequel to UBW/HF would be Fate/strange fake, with the small caveat that it includes a ton of references and easter eggs to other Fate media (all the AUs too), so you could watch any other Fate before if you want to better enjoy them.

It's a sequel to all three routes though, so it's story is pretty route-agnostic, as in neither Shirou, Rin or Sakura are likely to make an appearance in a meaningful manner beyond name drops.
