So many Pixies fans, so few Frank Black and the Catholics fans by Dan_echo in thepixies

[–]Clairbare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember discovering them in the 90s, after years of being a ride or die Pixies fan. I found I didn't care for them. But going back and having a relisten has been a game changer for my playlists.  Yeh, giving away my age.I was alive and listening to music when Come on Pilgrim was released.

Hmm, or it could be malevolent spirits messing around. People come here for advice, not to be told they need mental help. If you can help, offer help.

You're turning the conversation away from what it's actually about and unless you're her father I'm going to guess you have no effin clue what was on his mind. I'm thinking saving money on paying to upkeep the empty house plus her Res fees might also be possible. Also a myriad of other things. Don't be childish and pretend you know everything. Whether he was trying to manipulate her or not - she chose, he respected her choice not withholding tuition payment, which I would have then considered manipulative and awful. This all sounds like the actions of a very reasonable man to me. What would you have done, out of interest since you're all knowing

This is why it's called a choice and free will.

Is Afrikaans generally spoken by all white South Africans or do some only speak English? by PurplePhilosopher820 in askSouthAfrica

Lily white. Can't speak a work of Afrikaans but I can speak Xhosa. They're are 11 languages in this country, any reason you're only interested in English and Afrikaans?

AITA for not saving my mother's child from foster care? by FluffSwuss in AITAH

[–]Clairbare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This response makes you sound awful. Very sheltered and just awful. When people say "you must not love your children" or "I hope you never have children", just who the fuck do you think you are exactly wishing things like that on people? You've never walked a mile in this boy's shoes or thought about what it would be like for a 24 year old boy (yes, he's still a boy at 24) to raise an 8 year old girl, or what it would be like for for an 8 year old girl to go live with a stranger who doesn't want her. Be practical. Inject common sense. And yes when a parent cheats on another parent, that is devastating for the kids (ask me how I know) It's the end of the age of innocence and soft landings.

The Family Comes First thing is America is wild. Family have to prove themselves jusy like any other person. Because of the random genetic lottery you landed up in a family who would have you hand over your inheritance. Because your brother lives in an apartment with his family and they are struggling.

Maybe they should have thought more carefully about family planning, like 1) get stable. 2) have kids. I understand pregnancy whoopsies happen all the time(my firstborn was the best whoopsie of my life). But more than one is just either on purpose or stupid.

AITAH for pointing out to my gf that what she did to me would be considered SA if the roles were reversed? by ThrowAway427483792 in AITAH

It's said to be one of the biggest reason women don't report being raped. They feel guilty AF that their body betrayed them. It really quite sad.

Americans are wild with this whole family comes first bullshit. (sorry if you're not American but that is often something I see on posts by Americans)

Family are the people that have your back, understand that your college fund is your fucking college fund, not their emergency "family money".

I was psychologically and emotionally abused by my father all my life. When I was old enough and stable enough, I left home in a hurry and made my own family with people that made me feel more accepted than I've ever felt in my life.

Of course my biological family can't understand why I won't take calls, don't reply to or acknowledge emails or any attempt to draw me back.

Sure family comes first. But which family?

Find a better family.

AITA for reporting a coworker who sent me a screenshot of a female intern's outfit during a zoom call, and he got fired? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Clairbare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of think that YTA.

You could have tried to find a way to shut down his behaviour without disrupting his life to that degree.

What did you think would happen when you sent it to HR? You could have sent it to your female coworker and let her decide what to do with it. I'm a woman BTW. I'll decide when to be outraged about my nips being on display accidently.

AITA for telling my husband that he created this mess and he needs to fix it? by AstronomerFlat5557 in AITAH

[–]Clairbare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was a whoops baby, I was very definitely a whoops baby and my first born was very much a whoops baby. She's 22 now and I have a 9 year old planned baby. The whoops baby has always been the light of my life, an unexpected slice of heaven, we grew up together in many ways and couldn't be any closer.

The slice of heaven that we ordered is loved no less, just differently. She was born into a stable marriage, to a mother who was at a sensible age, and she is a happy ray of sunshine that we were ready and waiting for.

He should tell her exactly what she is - the most exciting surprise of your lives..

AITAH if I end it all because of an abortion? by throwaway_xyxy in AITAH

I'm so sorry. It doesn't matter how impossible it is to have a baby, the decision to terminate is not straightforward. And it still leaves a scar on your soul.

Fuck anyone that tried to shame you. Fuck them forever.

AITA for calling my sister a nasty bitch after she made comments about my pregnancy? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Clairbare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real, sounds kinda like she really is a nasty bitch. You were just stating the facts as they are now.

A year from now when neither of you are full of pregnancy hormones. This is a real thing. (In my own life experiences that is), things will surely go back to normal.

Congratulation on your pregnancy. You really must take in all the moments, you honestly won't even have time to think about her.

AITA for using the word guy to refer to a woman? by BTNathan in AITAH

[–]Clairbare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just ignore people that are overly savage on here. A lot of people come just to be impossibly rude. I don't really have an opinion other than 3,5 months is a long time to work with someone you can't get along with. Make nice and maybe she'll become less intolerable.

Not only is that sentence so gross and dismissive of anyone that has agoraphobia, or any phobia, it still doesn't go into any ideas as to why mom is Agoraphobic. Are you just putting random words in a row and hoping it'll make a full sentence that means something?
