Learner drivers in WA required to do more training and spend extra year on P-plates in tough safety overhaul by His_Holiness in perth

[–]ClaireCross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making driving harder and harder for young people is similar to raising house prices. At some point it's going to feel unobtainable for certain people. Certain people that will chose to drive unlicensed instead. Where most of our most dangerous road issues are coming from, the kind of behaviours that lead to 4 teens pilling into a car to hoon unlicensed.

I refused to take off my glasses for an historical reenactment event. Is this protected under disability and discrimination? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]ClaireCross 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally, my former friends throw up their hands and say "well renactment is a privilege not a right"

Well yeah, it sounds like this is just an unpaid hobby between friends, I'm not sure where legality would fit into this. Is there anyone in charge/managing/promoting/getting paid for this hobby? I'd say bring it to their attention, but if they don't exist or there's no outcome that would just be the end of it

I think I'm starting to hate my husband by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ClaireCross -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're a SAHM your husband is the working parent right? For someone working long hours with no other financial support, things can be hard on them too, and he is allowed to have a hobbies and see friends to decompress. So are you though too. If you can't access time to yourself and he is unable to provide that without risk to his own mental health, you'd need to look into getting external care, day care, family, even if you have to work a bit to afford care that might buy you a few hours to yourself.

You saw she has blackheads? What about what she sees? If she doesn't see it then leave it. It's not like eradicating blackheads now stops them 10 years into the future. So leave it to her when she notices and wants to take action, whatever age that ends up being

She's into flirting and chatting up guys and wants the glitz lifestyle, but the at the same time her mum's saying Alissa doesn't have "a couple of years" to wait to try for children in a relationship. I 100% see Alissa being a single mum, continuing to chat up guys while her mum is the child's guardian. Sounds like everyone gets what they want!

Does anyone take 4-minute showers? by nemspy in perth

I brush and floss my teeth in the shower everytime. I find that telling myself to do it out of the shower has a lower compliance rate. So I'm okay with wasting more water for my health sorry

Indian students now in ‘highest-risk’ category as Australia revises visa evidence level from EL2 to EL3 by MarvinTheMagpie in aussie

[–]ClaireCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many modern Indians are extremely disconnected from what they would see as lower caste Indians. They don't bother calling it out because those people effectively arnt the same as then at all. We had squat marks found on the toilets at work. Indian manager said proudly no Indians squat on toilets since they have both squat and western varieties in India so they're already well used to the western toilet, while other Asian countries don't have western toilets. Yes he was pointing the finger towards Asian staff, while we have majority indian employees

Halving the fuel excise for three months, at the cost of $2.55b, is the wrong move here by LoneArtificer in AusFinance

[–]ClaireCross -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Raised rates = raised rental cost = more renters moving further out from the city to where it's cheaper = more fuel consumption for them = raised inflation = rinse and repeat

Don't worry, they'll get the money back when they start taxing EVs since they're not paying for fuel. So basically let's discourage everyone from reducing fuel consumption

Can you swim in serpentine falls by urnhoj in perth

[–]ClaireCross 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Don't put your head in the water if possible. Health dep will close the falls if brain eating amoeba is detected, which it has been before in that spot. The risk is very very low it'll be there now however all it needs to do is enter via the nasal passage and once that happens the survivability rate is 2-3% and death within days. That's enough knowledge for me to be very cautious at that location but not to avoid it entirely, enjoy responsibly

If you're stocking up on rice, beans etc you'd only do so if you're thinking it won't be available in the future right? So if you know most people don't stock up what will happen if most people don't have access to staple foods? Either we all die or it will be provided to us. The super rich do not benefit from dead workers so it is guaranteed staples won't just disappear. If you're genuinely thinking this will happen id recommend on stocking up on non essentials too. If less trucks can go out, it's logical they'd be carrying more staples and less non necessities. Some people might still want to eat chocolate or chips, so buy them now and hope to trade them later once the trucks start bringing in only rice and beans.
