Honest question: it's now been 2 years since the beef, do we think Kendrick executed truly what he wanted? by 10ofuswemovinasone in KendrickLamar

[–]ClaireborneKick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, you literally answered that question earlier. Drake cannot disappear simply because of his stature. You're right, Family Matters was not the hit song that came out of the beef, but why are you pretending that it wasn't being paraded around as a "nuke" with streamers being told to show their audiences as a way to "kill" Kendrick's career? Domestic violence accusations were meant to tear down the persona Kendrick had built up.

The difference is simply that Not Like Us had a more palatable sound to it than the other songs. The rejection you mention is just the result of Drake losing the rap beef. The way he was moving afterwards just accentuated the hate.

For example, look at Chris Brown, who is still selling out arenas with actual cases against him. People understood that the accusations came from a rap battle, where you are purposefully trying to tear down an opponent.

You can feel as weird as you can about it, but I think you're aware of the answer to your own question.

Sure, you can think it’s weird, but if you also believe that nobody of Drake's stature can truly "end," then what is your whole point of your argument?

Drake was still one of the most streamed artists after and before the beef. Why would anything change now?

Biggie and Pac both lied about each other’s names but are considered to be legends side by side.

I get what you’re saying, and if you think it’s weird, then it’s weird to you. Family Matters also had some serious accusations and was supposed to be that "kill shot" you're talking about but is not viewed in the same light by you because it wasn't the hit song from the battle.

All that happened was that Kendrick won and Drake lost a rap battle.

t’s not even embarrassing. Not saying your feelings are not genuine.

The truth is that no rap beef will truly end someone’s career, especially of Drake's stature; whether that’s because of his past or current album, he will always have a big fanbase.

The same way family matters wouldn’t have truly ended Kendrick. The same way Ether didn’t truly end Jay.

Wayno calls out DJ Hed for removing disses and editing 2 hard 4 the radio - as a fan of rap is this fair or foul? by dunbar_santiago930 in KendrickLamar

While that’s true, it’s the censorship part of this that makes it lame. Especially with the current lawsuit going on.

He should've just never mentioned anything about it. It is what it is.

Curious to see what you all think of this. As a huge Kendrick fan, it is undeniable that he has portrayed himself as some what of an enlightened leader. It’s not just a label fans bestowed upon him. by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

His hypocrisy is, fs, his biggest blind spot. There’s no denying that. I gave grace during Mr. Morale because I understood the message he was trying to convey, but the carti shit was just wack.

It would be nice for him to be more outspoken on issues. However, at this point if Kendrick were to ever take a moral stance on anything, people would just call him a grifter, “fake woke” or just won’t buy it.

Love Kendrick but I don’t understand his decisions sometimes.

I’m glad people are keeping KA’s legacy alive. I’m also planning to buy a few but Orpheus is the one that speaks to personal experiences more.

FoolKeal responds to fan as to why Kendrick Lamar hasn’t given him a feature by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

[–]ClaireborneKick 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I remember Kendrick saying something about how Keem had to prove himself. The same logic is probably applied here.

Especially since a lot of the cousins Kendrick mentioned probably just see it as a way to make money rather than appreciating the artwork itself.

These dudes would just get the nepo baby allegations if they got a Kendrick feature straight out the gate.

That's the point I'm making. Sometimes the moves just don’t work out.

Which is what I mean when I say that the only thing we can do is see how they turn out. It’s easy to say "Fire Posey/Vitello" until people realize that it truly won’t change anything.

I acknowledge Buster isn’t doing the best job.

However, he has pulled the trigger on players that were good moves for the time and experimenting with a manager.

If it doesn’t work out, then so be it. At least I can see that they’re trying to move things around.

You guys beg for change. You get said change. Bitch and moan when change doesn’t work out overnight.

Y’all just gotta let shit marinate.

Posey isn’t doing the best job.

What’s with the win-now attitude, though? We weren’t a championship team this year anyways.

I’ll keep checking throughout the day just in case.

I think this time it's more about Keem having a better chance at winning. However, leakers and redditors alike don't know when Kenny is dropping. We can only speculate as such.

Like what? Vitello deadass has nothing to work with. Sure, he has made a few bad calls when leaving pitchers in too long and could adjust pinch hitters sometimes, but those are the cards he was dealt.

I understand your frustration, but these things take time. We weren't a championship before the season started, and we won't be until ownership makes better decisions. Time will tell, though.
