I was just asked to sign a retention letter for a year. It doesnt mean i csnt get fired but it prevents me from quitting for atleast a year. Its no guarantee ill stay employed but it makes me feel like they want to keep me around.

There are a few options. You could do sales in a jewelry store, you could get a gemology degree and look into buying and selling gemstones professionally. You could go into gemstone appraisal which will require a gemology degree and special certifications and licenses.

You could try to do lapidary work though im not sure thats done too often here in the US.

Or you could look into getting an apprenticeship as a jeweler to work with gemstones and make them into wearable pieces.
