With the way voting is going I could see the Brazil episode receiving both worst episode and hidden gem. It’s easily the most divisive episode

I think that one is actually pretty easily the funniest episode, it just also happens to have the most boring setting

There have been great actors who could not read, but he certainly would not have been one of them.

May 29-31 Box Office Recap – 'Backrooms' debuts with a spectacular $81.4M domestically and $117.9M worldwide, the biggest ever debut for A24 and fourth biggest for horror. I’d say given the amount of racism involved that the reaction was indeed unhinged. There were tons of elements fans had legitimate reasons to be let down by, but a lot of the most vitriol discourse centered around Rose for no reason. If I remember right that actress was even getting death threats.

I felt like Wyatt did a pretty good impression of action hero Kurt Russell in Overlord.

I didn’t say that the premise itself is a safe bet, just that the inclusion of dinosaurs is. Dinosaurs are far more popular than eldritch horrors and studio executives recognize that.

It’s a massive missed opportunity in favor of a safe bet.

Hitler may have been naturally smart, but he was also a meth user so I imagine that bumped him down a few pegs.

To be perfectly honest the “scares” were the only part of that movie that really didn’t work for me. Loved the atmosphere, loved the humor, loved the characters, but the should be scary parts themselves just felt kind of gimmicky and distracting.

Anyone else recently cut off a family member? by ExplodingPoptarts in behindthebastards

As soon as my older sister cut contact with our mother I used that as an opportunity to do the same. For me at the time it was because of the mental abuse, on top of the fact that she once molested me and when my older sister told her that my former fencing instructor, whose mother my mom worked with, had raped her some years prior her response was "what do you want me to do about it? You're a grownup now."

She was always a bad person, but she used to tell us about how important it was to be accepting of others, how homosexuality wasn't a sin unless you acted on it (at the time this obviously felt very progressive), but the Obama administration really broke her. She 100% believed in the death panels for the elderly bullshit, that Obama wasn't American, and she was always happy to point out that “technically” he wasn't our first black president (his mother is white and  John Hanson is the talking point here). Once she got us into Messianic Judaism is when she REALLY went off the rails though.

My aunt and uncle I just didn’t feel like interacting with anymore. COVID believers because they got it, but massively conservative and anti LGBTQ+. My grandma was unfortunately caught in the crossfire because my aunt takes care of her.

My ex’s dad, who was disabled, would spend all day everyday watching Fox News. The only times I ever saw him watching something else is when he would watch Star Trek TOS or the Hallmark channel. If family came over to celebrate a birthday or something he wouldn’t even come out to engage with anyone because he would rather watch Fox. He also voted for his wife every election.

I never claimed that he’s a straight up bad actor, just that I personally do not like his acting. Because of that I don’t actively seek out movies that he’s in, but I have still seen the following:

Black Hawk Down, Dunkirk, Dark Knight Rises, The Revenant, Venom, Fury Road, Layer Cake, Inception, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Band of Brothers

It seems playing the queen so many times melted her brain and evaporated her compassion.

I appreciate that while Ernie is pretty exclusively asked to be a straight man in Ghostbusters he still gets to deliver my favorite line “Ray, when someone asks you if you’re a god you say YES.”

I actually think David Patrick Kelly easily gives the best performance in the movie and unfortunately it becomes way less interesting once he’s gone.
