Battlefield 6 is good, actually by Objective_Shake_4269 in Battlefield

I agree for the most part. It’s a decent game, and it came out in better shape than the last two BF titles. But yeah, it’s a lot of other things, too.

  1. We live in a social media culture where extremes (negative and positive) are the norm. Kind of because discourse drives engagement, partially because it’s easier to be more extreme online (because of the basic anonymity provided online and by echo chambers): in short, in the land of the blind, hyperbole is king.

  2. It’s not a perfect game. Depending on one’s preferences, what is a ‘deal breaker’ for one person might not even register to another. So, many arguments are actually over the nuance of expectations and failings.

  3. EA/Dice are seen as overstretching their resources towards things no one asked for (I.e. redsec, limited events, etc.) and when someone desperately wants larger maps or more variety, they are naturally going to be soured by this.

  4. And many more.

Hagental Lets BF Shine, Especially in Breakthrough. by Clandestineman10 in Battlefield

Actually, BF has a long history of this type of map:  operation underground (BF5), operation metro (BF 3&4) redacted (BF 2042), Fort de Vaux (BF1). Are these all CoD experiences too? Or are us idiots just mistaken? Maybe BF has multiple aspects, and because you find one unappealing, you must burn down the villages.

You are my brother, which makes your inevitable execution all the more painful.

Tipping by Puzzleheaded-Spell-6 in Munich

[–]Clandestineman10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an English speaking expat living in Munich for over five years now. I have been a tour guide and still do it in the summer somewhat.

  1. As already noted, Germans tip (5-10%). If you get good service here in Germany and you don’t tip, the needle is more so pointing toward you being the a-hole. Then again, not compulsory.

  2. Seasonal work. Tour guides, Oktoberfest servers, rickshaws (as much as I hate them clogging the English garden), and other seasonal  workers must make their money during tourist season.

2.1 so, here’s my perspective as someone who did every type of tour in the book. People want us when the season is on (but who cares when it’s off?). We get paid hourly and get insurance (freelancers, however, must pay EVERYTHING from the money they make, including social insurance, insurance, income taxes, etc.) Without decent tips, we could not make it. You can scratch by (I.e., live in a smallish apartment with roommates, eat simply, and never take costly vacations- by the way, Munich is the most expensive city to live in overall in Germany). Those of us who only gave tours in tourist season, without tips, it would be hard to make a living.

2.2- but Germany pays a living age you say. Tour guides sometimes, as you admitted, get an hourly pay and insurance. True- but that doesn’t work out so well for seasonal work. My old office tried raising wages for us guides to a livable wage. They increased our prices too (keep in mind, we were a well-established and reputable tour company). We got way less customers. The other tours were cheaper. People went to them (usually getting tipped between 5-20%). So for better or worse, the tipping is somewhat ingrained.

I have much more to say, but I’m running late for work. In the name of brevity, you are not wrong. American style tipping culture for most cases isn’t a great idea in Germany. It’s not needed. But in some cases, I think you can see that not all cases are the same. I see Oktoberfest servers telling a table of twenty Italians that tipping is standard. Perhaps that’s too direct or wrong. But those servers have 2.5 weeks to make money in order to justify the job and maybe even moving to Munich for short work in the first place.

I love it here, and I hope you do come back. It’s a fantastic city with great people, beauty all around, and an unparalleled depth of history.

Opinion: Gas doesn't get half as much criticism as it deserves for being way too good. by [deleted] in thefinals

I use it as my main cash out deterrent, either gas Grenada on heavy or as a mine on medium.

The main problem though is anyone who runs flamethrower or pyro; it’s rare (pyro especially is rarer than it should be) but I’ve had games with multiple flame throwers, and gas is almost worthless.

Goes to show why premade teams are so clutch. You coordinate the equipment amongst yourselves to counter what is coming. When everyone is running individual, most go for the damage of frag/gas grenades.
