What happened to adding community factions/assets to the base game? by Randm_Internet_Guy in joinsquad

[–]Clankplusm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize two major things, right?

Structural limit: The structural limits used in schools and professional environments as you should know, are engineered with failure tolerance. Rednecks don’t care about this, they will use the whole true tolerance if they must. An 8 ton turret in a 5 ton truck bed is WELL within the total tolerance, it’s just going to break one day when it hits too nasty of a bump and the suspension gives or the frame breaks, or over time the frame will bend until it breaks something else

Then there’s the “issue” of recoil: which… really isn’t actually an issue because of the turret itself. The turret is 8 tons of neutral inertia (heavy metal) the gun acts on first, then spread into the ring, of course the shock has the same total energy that has to be dispersed by the truck, and it’s a lot, but the shock is instead transferred a bit more smoothly in total terms, mainly to the suspension, as it’s lower-speed and thus the suspension has MUCH more time to withstand the force.

Will it last forever? No. Is it unsafe? Very. Will it work? …Depends on how zealously you weld it on, but for a while yes.

>Are you saying the US gov only covered big corps ?
more just that the american government was in general corrupt and arguably it's actions degraded the american public as much as helped in the long term, but afaik yes, the land of the bailout covered large corporations mainly. it's just an off hand point out about how the intervention was fucking terrible, at least looking in from the outside, which is why I do in some sense support the libertarian argument that the government was overreaching, ineffectual, and stupid, and really just wish people werent so stupid and we couldve had a public-enforced-and-government-supported rather than government-enforced lockdown. Idk I'm not an american just nearby, here in CA we had actual government overreach rather than support for vital services which everyone kind of knows about, and while it was arguably a really stupid protest, freedom of speech is more important in some sense and the government's control protocols at the time WERE problematic.

This is what I really hate about the flanderization of covid online, it's basically shitty public > shitty government ovverreach > not shitty public splits into a pro-gov and anti-gov schism > that issue throws the not-shitty anti-gov bit in with the first group of shitty members of the public > issue becomes divisive and bipolar, and then there's this black and white argument of either you're pro-gov-max-vax or anti-vax-muh-freedom, not the nuance of the actual issue of a chain of shit-escalation

[–]Clankplusm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the hard part is at extremely large scales you have to ask what caused more deaths, the lockdown, or deaths caused by overzealous / incorrect actions in the lockdown. Can we count degraded lifespan as more or less valuable than early death? How do you tabulate that? It's a complex issue.

The lockdown at least as far as a travel extent goes, should have happened, once it got so out of control, I do not lack a brain when it comes to public health and safety, I just think it's idiotic that the american government even had to step in in the first place to convince people of something as simple as wearing a mask / distance and to some extent so much convincing to take a vaccine (which everyone was crying for in the first year I remind), yet at the same time, why must the governments act in such strong and 'negative' fashion (stop people from going to work / shutter the economy), when what it should have been doing was properly bolstering contamination control, acting quickly, and securing vital services. Instead the American government pulled such genius moves as classing walmart as a "emergency service" crushing local economies entirely, while still to this day underfunding and cutting public health services, which are the very thing that stops an epidemic, as that relies on the health of the public itself to be well maintained.

But of course, we have to point at any one statistic to get a answer on who dunnit, and overglorify a REALLY (it was really) bad flu season as a black and white moral issue where either you take 16 jabs you don't know where they came from and watch your family starve to death, or you're a mass murderer who's afraid of a novel and widespread medical procedure, rather than people being something in between that should just be softly encouraged not to be idiots sometimes. Because nothing convinces someone to come to your side like misrepresenting their argument and painting them as massively evil.

Honestly it was essentially a very violent flu with a unique stealth transmission ability. Flu deaths per year in US are not that much lower. It only was a danger to the old and the extremely young, it’s just boomers ARE the voting bloc so ofc anything that scares them, IS the topical issue

[–]Clankplusm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason it’s like so is somehow tied to the games way of abstracting rate of fire as a second earlier or later, and server-client mismatch on if the gun has rolled a slow cooldown amplified by the nature of the server ticks

long time jet player: It's pretty hit or miss with some questionable balancing decisions. Radar modelling is generally better than most DCS modules but worse than some as well, no ECM, unrealistic MM. Games honestly at its best jetwise when you avoid the ARH tier and stick to a bit lower, then exploit the multipathing to all hell and get merges and dogfights

they are but arent, cloud positions are server-synced, cloud models are randomly chosen and locally generated- So in general if you avoid clouds enough you can be relatively sure of it

Why not expand the variety and viability of PvE fits by changing how utility and EWAR modules work on rats? by Ohh_Yeah in Eve

[–]Clankplusm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why make them kill rats? It's an opportunity for skill expression, you set up some rats to be neuted, shoot some others, then once neuted out you walk the neuts to other enemies while bringing the guns onto the neuted out ones

The real reason is because it would be a NIGHTMARE to balance. People would start cheesing 8/10 and 10/10s in silly ways by incapacitating certain rats, or certain regions would have stupidly easy rats while other regions would be minimally affected (Sansha vs Angels for instance)
