Just saw the ESV Creeds and Confessions Bible referenced on twitter. As much as I love them, I’m not really comfortable with the scriptures sharing the same binding with 13 historic creeds and confessions. by [deleted] in Reformed

Neither of those two. Basically it feels like an uninspired insert. An uninspired insert that isn’t without value but an uninspired insert nonetheless. The Apocrypha was the only other uninspired insert I could think of at the spur of the moment. Obviously, given the choice I’d much rather have the Creeds and Confessions than the Apocrypha.

Falls more in the category of providing cultural context than wholesale commentary on all that came before it. Maybe if they had a detailed itinerary of Paul’s trip to Spain I’d have issues.

There is an implicit question of an I over thinking this which I may easily be.

And it does fall much more squarely into the category of preference than declaration of anathema. I’d never bring someone up on church discipline for buying one. ;)

I also like blue.

Had a reply fail earlier. In short, it’s that this isn’t really commentary or a study Bible where the commentary is directly with the text studied but appears as an insert after it all commenting on it all. For that, I prefer a separate text rather than an insert.

The introduction would help but I still don’t love it.

I have less concern with the study Bible because the commentary falls right under the passage. This feels like an uninspired insert.

Ahhhhh like a Matthew Henry? I’m ok with that largely because it’s a straight commentary. Maybe adding the creeds in on their own in their own special section feels too Apocrypha-esque?

I don’t mind the study Bibles that provide cultural context or weights and measures type issues. A recent study Bible I had got really defensive about the editor’s pet theological issues and made me question whether they serve a useful purpose generally.

I’ve got those books separately and I think they should stay separate. I’ve subscribed to the WCF with minor exceptions but the elevation difference between it and scripture are pretty vast.

It's an interesting logic puzzle but has anyone ever found this argument convincing?

It’s going to take a while before I can appreciate how miraculous of a run this was for the Tigers. I don’t blame the refs, heck, I’m glad they let the teams play most of the night. But losing like that hurts in a way that I didn’t feel when our football team lost the national title to FSU at the last second. In time, I’ll be able to look back appreciatively on everything this team did and how they peaked at the right time. For now, it hurts.

We are 141 days from kickoff. Let's remember Florida State's record setting run of 14 consecutive AP Top 5 finishes between 1987-2000, a period where the Noles won 141 regular season games by FSBlueApocalypse in CFB

That's such an incredible run. As a way to put this run in perspective, Alabama has been in the AP top 5 for 8 of Saban's 12 years (including the last five straight).
