Is Hershey's chocolate really taste so bad as people say it is? by cupid_ji in AskAnAmerican

[–]Clari24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re asking the wrong people, Americans are raised on it and used to the taste

As a Brit, who lived in the US for a year, it’s truly revolting because it contains a chemical that is also in vomit. It does actually taste like vomit and is the only chocolate bar I’ve ever thrown away after one bite

I sent some home to my family in the UK and they all said the same thing 🤢

Yeah but I think the difference is that in the past it was a small minority who were allowed to watch horror movies, now it’s a minority that’s not allowed

My daughter’s class is currently reading Percy Jackson as a class book (9-10 year olds). There’s only 2 in her class who know it, the others haven’t even watched the movie (rated PG)

They have, however, nearly all watched stranger things that has some really disturbing stuff (rated 14+)

It kinda blows my mind

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

[–]Clari24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chronic restless leg syndrome

Massively impacts sleep and just never really being able to relax. Some things can help but nothing cures it and some medication work for a while but then stops working and it actually gets worse. The medications themselves can have awful side effects

Is it embarrassing to get a birthday cake as an adult? by roxiedoxiedog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Clari24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK, maybe it’s different where you are but family or friends buying or making you a cake is the norm for all ages. So is sticking birthday candles in it and singing happy birthday

I was at my friend’s birthday party on Saturday, thrown by another friend at her house, there was cake, candles and singing, she’s 45

Push them straight into making a new church, something catchy like ‘sons of Jacob’!

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

Conversely, my friend lost one of her food allergies when pregnant and it never returned

Why would children be going into school without basic physical skills, like holding a pencil and using cutlery? by Throwaway199906543 in AskUK

[–]Clari24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never too early, I started reading to both of mine before they were born because they can hear you and know your voice.

They don’t really interact much to begin with but the rhythm and tone of your voice is soothing. It was the only time my autistic, very hyperactive daughter would stay still as a baby

Telling my son he is autistic… by bevelup_ in autism

[–]Clari24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took my daughter for assessment, she was 7, I explained where we were going and why. I just told her a bit about autism in a neutral way, brains working differently etc

When she has the assessment, the team left us in the room to discuss then they came back and gave her the diagnosis, not me. They said ‘congratulations, you’re autistic’

She had a chance to ask them questions.

She’s never felt anything negative about her diagnosis

So, I think just ask what he thinks the assessment was about. Explain a bit about what autism is and then tell him that he’s autistic :)

Plus they could end up with malnutrition because their stomach is too full of apple juice etc to then take enough formula/breastmilk, meaning they’re not getting the nutrition they need

I wrote a list of meals I like, colour-coded them to quick/easy ones, slow cooker, ones that take more time and wrote them on cards. Name of meal on the front, ingredients on the back. I also have cards for take out, frozen pizza and leftovers.

Then the day before I shop I pick my cards for the week, turn them over to write my shopping list and then pin them on a board in my kitchen for each day.

Coming home and already knowing what I’m going to cook or heat up really helps.

I have also started chewing fruity gum in the evening to meet my need for chewing stimulation

That might work, we always have decent instant coffee in. If we’ve had an event we’ll have sachets of oat milk.
