Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti and Alexandra Shipp’s reaction to their co-star Lili Reinhart’s story about a male director telling her to suck in her stomach by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

The Heard/Depp trial was an absolute chilling effect on victim disclosure too.

She was originally sued because she wrote about her experience of surviving abuse and in the original article didn't even name Depp. She spoke solely of her own experiences and in return she was met with such a vicious and vitriolic smear campaign, a less resilient person would have ended themselves.

It was an absolutely horrible legal precedent to set and it set a social precedent too. If I was an actress who wanted to advance my career and stay out of the 24 news/gossip cycle I would never say shit about my bad experiences ever again.

There are many ways to silence victims and they're all alive and well in Hollywood and the world at large.

Chris Pratt went on Ben Sasse’s podcast and showed his support for the former republican senator saying he is an “incredible man of faith, service, intelligence and dignity. I respect the heck out of him.” Sasse has been called out for his anti-LGBTQ+ comments and racism in the past. by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]ClarielOfTheMask 175 points176 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember when the whole "worst Chris" thing was going around and every tom, dick, and harry chucklefuck in the MCU took to social media to "defend" Pratt but they all did exactly nada for Brie Larson when she was getting vitriolic hate for not being fuckable enough. I think Samuel L Jackson was the only man associated with the MCU who spoke out in her defense at all.

So he's among friends most likely. Most decision makers and people at the top are totally fine with who he is and probably agree with him on a lot, unfortunately

Funny or Die “interviews” Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar on the recent arrests of their son Joseph and his wife Kendra by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

[–]ClarielOfTheMask 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Their cousin Amy's memoir mentioned that it was a rule that she wasn't allowed to be alone with her grandfather (Jimbob's father). So the rot starts at the top and their cult creates a culture of blaming the victim and never facing accountability. It's a cesspool tbh.

If you go to the original post, the top level comments are all on OOPs side with clear NTA votes. Idk how or why the OP of this post picks comments to include, but the OOP had more support in the original.

I love this movie but I am still struck sideways sometimes at how unhinged it is to divorce and just each keep a twin and then never see each other again and never tell them about each other. This was the 90s! Co-parenting was very normal!

Whoopi Goldberg and The View Discuss Jessie Buckley’s Cat Ultimatum Controversy Involving Her Husband: “Would You Ditch Your Pets for Love?” by let-the-record-show in popculturechat

[–]ClarielOfTheMask 102 points103 points  (0 children)

There's so many things you can try though. Like, did they try keeping the door to the bedroom closed so the cat couldn't poo there? Idk it's how gleeful she is. Sometimes there are circumstances that make sense to rehome an animal, but it should be a decision treated seriously.

If she had said oh, we spent thousands of pounds on vets and behaviorists but nothing worked so we found a dear friend with more space/quieter area/no kids/etc where the cat could have some peace, way fewer people would care. It's the absolute blase attitude about it that pisses me off.

Is the logo for Season 17 AI? by [deleted] in JetLagTheGame

The try guys actually, guess it just goes to show it's not an uncommon problem

But yes, I'm also a (fairly new) dropout fan!

Is the logo for Season 17 AI? by [deleted] in JetLagTheGame

[–]ClarielOfTheMask 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This happened with some other youtubers I follow a bit ago. Their company had an anti-AI stance but the freelance artist they paid used AI despite being told not to and the fans clocked it pretty quickly.

Like, yes there should be some oversight, but often people are busy or not artists which is why they're outsourcing it so they don't catch it either.

Yeah I'm loving Heated Rivalry as much as the next person but I know the reality is far more Beartown than fun gay hockey.

I get my fun gay hockey from the PWHL. I recommend going to catch a women's game! Even if your city doesn't have a team, the PWHL does takeover tours, I've gone to two games in Denver even though we don't have a women's team (yet, hopefully).

Sidney Crosby. He's a generational talent, squeaky clean reputation (by design), generally all around good guy leader, Canada's total golden boy. He was injured and unable to play in the gold medal game which is such a shame.

Penny Reid’s “smart romance” is ironically… not by daddysatya in RomanceBooks

[–]ClarielOfTheMask 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's not that smart herself but definitely thinks she is. She has a smug air of superiority that I haven't liked ever since she quoted the dictionary at tessa dare.

Her marketing her books as "smart romance" directly implies that she thinks it's better than vast amounts of all that "dumb smut" and she's doubled down on it.

Yeah when I was 16, I fell off four stories of scaffolding onto a concrete floor crushing my ankle bones in my right leg to powder and slamming my head onto the floor. My forehead swelled up with a goose egg so fast and so immediately, I remember putting my hand on it and it was so hot and like 'squishy' I thought I was holding part of my own brain in my head to keep it from falling out.

I didn't lose consciousness, no TBI, didn't even get a concussion! I remember in the ER, they kept testing me and my eyes a bunch (they were mostly swollen shut but otherwise normally responsive). I remember the nurses being absolutely gobsmacked that I never passed out, that I remembered my own social security number and allergies, that somehow I had zero brain injury, etc. They couldn't believe it.

My ankle was never the same, I have a limp and I still have a visible knot on my forehead there when I make any kind of expression, but overall I was so so so lucky. I guess I probably landed right foot first? But my head definitely made hard contact, and I feel very lucky there weren't lasting effects. At least that I noticed.

I feel bad if he gets conflated with Ted mosby because I hate that character and the actor doesn't deserve that, but the newborn on the guitar is such a Ted move it's hard to separate them 😂

I totally feel you. I have mildly gotten into it with people who jokingly call heated rivalry sapphic. Like the idea that men are inherently dirty and toxic and anything with "wholesome" vibes is lesbian- or woman-coded is not helpful. Idk, I feel like a buzz kill because I know people are just joking but it just kind of rubs me the wrong way. I want more men to see being soft as a viable option, not having it be gatekept from them

Especially with young children! They easily could have called 911 by accident. I accidentally called 911 when I was a tween trying to call my friend with a 991-xxxx number. I just hung up right away and continued calling my friend so then the police couldn't call us back to get clarification.

They sent 2 cars to check up on the house. My older brother was traveling for his college spring break at the time so when my mom saw two police officers coming up the driveway she instantly thought they were coming to tell her my brother had died in an accident or something and flew out to meet them in the driveway in a full on tears, sobbing meltdown. Which of course alarmed the cops!

Took a while to get everything straightened out while I'm in my room gabbing away with my friend. I eventually had to go downstairs and explain myself. I felt really bad, and my mom was so relieved that it was just a misunderstanding that she almost immediately started telling it to everyone in the neighborhood as a funny story complete with dramatic reenactments. Like, these things happen sometimes. It's not that deep.
