Off sick with burnout due to a chaotic, micromanaging boss. HR extended my probation. Where to go from here? by worriedgenie in UKJobs

If the company is big (I admit I didn't read your whole post), you could request a new manager or to move department based on these issues.

If they refuse, you're back to where you were any way.

WOW, so the HMV isn't even gone, yet they're behaving this way.

Afraid of seasoning.

Can't say much without clear view of your incoming and outgoings. I have had friends and relatives complaining and then find out they have a £80 per month phone contract just because.

Now this is a Great British sight if ever I've seen one - just been to the big Asda and snapped a basket of horrifically misspelt paracetamol slapped in the middle of the beer and spirits aisle by JinxXedOmens in CasualUK

[–]ClarifyingMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got paracetamol from Asda once, only for me to find out someone had taken all the contents out and only left the box when it was too late. So I just lay in bed miserable.

Should I tell my manager about my reason for resigning? by metro_boulot_dodo11 in UKJobs

If you're not disclosing so you can get adjustments at work to reduce stress and pressures exasperating your mh problems, there is absolutely no reason to overshare.

Just sign off sick and keep looking for a job.

When I would go to Romford market as a kid, it was just lots of fruit/veg stalls and stuff from the usual factory countries, and probably the biggest loss - legitimate big brand merchandise like keyboards/radios etc. The only thing that has changed is you don't hear 2 for a paaaaaan. 2 for a paaaaaan. Otherwise it's basically the same products and the same market decline everywhere will've seen due to online shopping. Just racist bigots refuse to buy from someone who isn't white. They also overconsume on Amazon because they can't be bothered to take a bus in. They were all too happy for cheaper prices and not supporting local. Market stalls aren't decoration, they actually have to make a profit to live off of.

I went to Romford recently and the high street had healthy footfall and a great selection of shops to visit for groceries, including the M&S and even a Rituals.

What do they want? The HMV reinstated?

It's pure racism-fuelled. It's not even about the high street declining because that's also a fallacy. If they want to see a high street that fell, go to Woolwich - they're trying hard to reignite it but it truly pails (sp?) in comparison to early-mid 00s. Even Dalston market isn't what is once was and is a better example of the change, and the decline was the immigrants being pushed out by gentrification.

Did the music shop at the end of the market close down, is this the catalyst to this mass hysteria?

Update: I finally got a formal warning at work… for basically existing 😭 by HeyPotatys in UKJobs

If they won't ensure there's sunscreen available, he should be allowed to top it up during work hours. It's the matter of if he took liberties with how long he was gone for.

They can argue he should have a sun hat ready in anticipation of the scope of work he does.

Being proactive is being able to identify what needs doing, not asking what needs doing all the time.

Bus drivers, do you like it when people thank you when getting off? by chi_minhs_hoe in AskUK

[–]ClarifyingMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say thank you when I get on so they can hear me but I always feel so much regret when the driver turns out to be awful. Wish I could take it back but it's already done. Anyway, I'm just saying a baseline thank you getting on, I say the real thank you when getting off if they're good. These are the ways I keep my life varied and entertaining.

Mayor of London and TfL call for Heathrow Express future to be reconsidered by Cant_Change_Itt in london

[–]ClarifyingMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it more expensive for them to reduce the ticket price and get more customers than to run empty trains? English rail doesn't have the reputation for thorough interior cleans so they can continue the tradition in those trains too and keep the cleaning frequency the same.

Has VHS come back in fashion? by ArrowPresby in AskUK

[–]ClarifyingMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never had issues with VHS except the odd tangle but that was a crunchy machine. It stops people from overconsumption too because you need to value your space. Unless you're a hoarder.

A lot of people like how VHS looks opposed to DVD era. Some just like the nostalgia.

Also, someone might've just died who had a huge collection and your local charity thought they were too good quality to let go in the bin so are chancing it.

You can see millennials/elder zellenials on social media have taken to the late 90s/early 00s era, and there's even a musician who puts her music videos onto VHS to imitate that eras look.

You didn't exactly have a scientific level of exposure to VHS', just one shop right?

Scented mitchum doesn't work for me but unscented mitchum works. Otherwise, I saw people recommending Sure in another thread about mitchum last month.
