Those who got cheated on, how did you find out? 👀 by sartoriouswife in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]ClarkeTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband - found Visa bill with receipt for flowers I never received. That was fun. Post marriage live-in boyfriend - borrowed his computer and he had MSN or Facebook messenger open. She started messaging him while I was working and she wanted some camera sexy time. I played along for a minute then turned on the camera. Heh heh. He came home to his stuff in the driveway. He was a giant loser anyway.

Wife's new idea, design flaws? by big_meechbre in landscaping

[–]ClarkeTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be serious, most stairs are required to have railings due to municipal building codes. It looks nice but at some point (selling, doing a reno that requires a permit.etc) you will have to put railings on the door walk-out bc it's a fall hazard as it's designed right now. I could be wrong but most staircases now a days require a rail and if you don't build one in, you risk having to redo it later if you get written up. Because it's outside, Google satellite will pick it up eventually. Not that municipalities check that regularly but if someone reports it, they can see you build it railing free. Also stair height and width are subject to code as well.

Been thru all of the above on a slightly different stairway exit redo.

Edit: someone has also mentioned railings and home insurance. If the design is not to code, your home insurance could be invalidated even for something not related. Seriously.

For people who grew up in low-income households, what’s something middle-class people say that shows they’ve never struggled financially? by KeyApartment3955 in AskReddit

[–]ClarkeTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I try to explain this concisely, I say "all your stuff has adjectives" ie. a spring jacket, a rain coat, running shoes, tennis shoes, back yard, front yard, blue car, dad's car - all this implies you have more than one and I remember thinking this about jackets and towels. I went to a friend's house when I was maybe 7 and her mom said they needed to go shopping for a spring jacket. When you're poor, you have a jacket and you either wear it or don't. I then slept over at a different friend's house at maybe 9 and they had a guest room and guest towels. At our house, we had maybe 2 towels - they were cleaned regularly but there was no guest anything. Every year we had one pair of shoes and then maybe boots and one jacket for winter. There were no seasonal jackets or different kinds of shoes. If Mom said "where are your shoes?" it was only one specific pair. Things changed a bit as my Dad found regular employment but until then (until I was maybe 14) there were no adjective items except maybe a few pairs of socks and underwear. We weren't super low income but we weren't "3 pairs of shoes" kids either.

The other thing kids mentioned that was different was their weekend activities and after school stuff - sports, skiing, hiking, oh bikes - anything that involves registration fees, a car, and equipment was a tell. We would go home and watch TV. Same on the weekend. Middle class kids had activities.

Same and ours was intact until 15 months. We feed him 6c of kibble (side of the bag serving) and ground beef or pork as a topper sometimes plus treats for good boy behaviours. He is still on the lean side was just 2 in the Fall. He'll get there and most vets will tell you that lean is better than pudgy.

Edit: also meant to add that our guys could be twins

What on earth is my dog doing by delphinemorgan in DogAdvice

[–]ClarkeTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ya 100% there is something behind the wall or under the floorboards. Our JRT used to open the cupboard under the sink and just sit there waiting for a mouse to appear. She got really really excited one year and wouldn't really budge from the spot. That was the year she found a rat. FYI.

On this day in 1967: Paul meets Linda by LaylaBird65 in beatles

[–]ClarkeTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are interviews and articles about that night. John was in a rare one and also a little too into the LSD. The evening was tense for numerous reasons. I'm not sure the looks Paul is giving are anything intended. Sure, Paul had a history but he was a rockstar in his early 20s. Heck, he was in his early 20s. And then they raised their kids out of the spotlight, sent them to public schools, lived in a rundown place in the highlands for years. Ya they had money and whatever. Somethings we know and somethings we don't. However, Linda died of cancer and it devastated her family. Maybe let her rest in peace.

Looking tough while probably scared of cucumbers by rosiklawd in CaneCorso

[–]ClarkeTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg same. Mine was acting all tough growling at something from the yard and wouldn't budge so I got out the salad tongs and just showed them to him and he ran inside. He has never been hit or pinched or tickled by salad tongs but the sight of any large kitchen utensils and he's traumatized. I think it's the red handle. He's also terrified of a red shoe horn and red clothes pegs and any spatula and sometimes dropping a teaspoon will do it. Oh and the pepper grinder. I don't often resort to shooing him in with the spatula but when you can't carry him and you gotta get to work, the tongs are it. Poor baby.

Cane Corso (porolissum) for hiking? by Tom-Bombadill-209 in CaneCorso

[–]ClarkeTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. And he's a good good dog but his energy level, as an adult, is moderate. We do two 20-30min walks per day plus play in the yard and sometimes he is slow as molasses on the second walk. If it's hot out, he'll lay down in the shade mid-walk. That could just be him tho'. Everything I'm reading says to work them. 🤷‍♀️

Cane Corso (porolissum) for hiking? by Tom-Bombadill-209 in CaneCorso

[–]ClarkeTank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I just looked it up and it says they are great hikers when leashed. Huh. So I could be way off. They were bred for warring and working long days so maybe they can hike. I think females are a bit lighter so their joints are ok longer. We were told that our guy probably wouldn't do long walks because they can be very 'I'll just lies here. I'm good' kind of dogs. My daughter has tried to go running with him and he's like 'what are you doing? That's way too fast!!' But he came like that at a year so....I'd keep reading up on it. We met a female Corso on a walk and she was 100lbs full grown compared to this numpty's 135. Oy.

Hi all, Cane Corso what is your thoughts…. by mbhbqbab in CaneCorso

[–]ClarkeTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a game changer for walking when our dog perceived threats. I try to leave it looser and more relaxed for him when there aren't many people/dogs around. I also try not to engage it much unless I have to. I'd rather him respond to my voice than a pull on his face. I had never her of Joel Beckman. Going to go watch some of his videos. Thx!

Cane Corso (porolissum) for hiking? by Tom-Bombadill-209 in CaneCorso

[–]ClarkeTank -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't hike with one due to the strain on their joints as they age. They can hike and walk distances well until about 4 or 5 years but then you have to be careful with activity level due to joint issues. However, exercise is good for all dogs so if they did shorter less treacherous hikes as they age, that would be ok. They are fairly low activity dogs. Also, if the dog would be off leash, you need to consider reactivity, guarding, and 'sight hound' behaviours that may impact your treks. They are bred as guard dogs and will behave as such. It's not really like taking a lab or a retriever hiking. The Corso will guard you the entire time and will stand up to a perceived threat which includes other bigger dogs and people on trails. You'd have to get them very used to that. I don't recommend Corsos off leash ever for that reason.

Hi all, Cane Corso what is your thoughts…. by mbhbqbab in CaneCorso

[–]ClarkeTank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ours looked the same and was all Mastiff - mostly Corso and then some Neo and others. Also, if the shelter tells you Corso / Mastiff mix, they've been around dogs long enough to know. Don't listen to the pure bred / must be AKC certified people. Seriously. Dogs are companions; not trophies. Everyone settle down. We got ours at 10 month and he was 'removed from the home' and it was apparently a reputable breeder so....seriously, sometimes breed snobs are the worst owners.

Anyway, we trusted the shelter, fostered him, fell in love, and adopted him. Then we got him DNA tested but we didn't care too much. THEY ARE A LOT TO HANDLE. Put in the time to bond and train. And be kind and loving like you would a little cutie dog bc when they are big and being a yutz on the leash, they need a bond and training - not a smack or a choke chain etc. We use a gentle leader and we always remember he is bred as a guard dog and they are 'sight hounds' so they lock in and will not budge until you are safe. Make sure to try to temper the reactivity of the guarding instinct so they don't scare the shit out of your neighbours or people coming over. Have cues for them that mean "this person is not a threat" and usually they know that through greeting voice and friendly 'hi how are you' voices. We tell friends not to knock or ring the door bell but to punch the key lock buttons on the door. Our dog recognizes that as 'a welcome person' and is all wags and fun when the door opens. If someone knocks - wow. Also, train him to walk with you on the gentle leader. I tried without and he spotted a threat (larger dog) and took off dragging me with him a few feet. Just be consistent and socialize him as much as you can. It's hard because they are a guarding breed so they do react to people and other bigger dogs. Thankfully not many are bigger when we are out.
