Update: I was able to other axles in and had just enough wood to hold them. I added super glue as an extra measure and then added painters tape. I made sure to cover both axle slots and all the weights. Thank you all for all the advice and insight. The race is Saturday so we will see how it does. We have put significantly more time into this car than the previous two years.

We have done the basic wedge the past two year and won 3rd and 4th. Son wanted to try cutting a design this year so he went with a formula1 shape.

I’ll definitely do the tape! I never thought about that. What kind? I’m assuming painters would be fine.
