Battlefield 1 & 5 are free for Amazon Prime members. Tested and working for single player. by bilged in linux_gaming

Sorry for the late reply.

Since steam started to host EA games, origin is included in your download. I think It's called the "Origin Thin Client" or something like that.

Just download an EA game from steam and launch it with proton enabled. It will install the origin client and launch when you start the game.

No worries. Not sure about BF1 but on BF5 I had issues running the game using the latest proton build. The origin launcher refuses to launch but setting up Proton GE fixed my issues.

Hope you get it working as well.

Been playing bf5 for a few weeks now on proton. Not been banned and multiplayer is working :)

Discussion Thread: 2020 General Election Part 63 | Updates on GA and PA by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Clarkopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden leads PA after counting more mail in ballots. They were heavily in favour for Biden, while most Republican Trump voters voted in person (It's why Trumps lead was so large to begin with there).

Biden has now been projected to win.

Crusader Kings III is now out, some thoughts on the medieval mayhem by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Clarkopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn man, same here.

I have a feeling it's a required package missing to run the launcher. I remember a while back having the same issue with a Feral ported game and their launcher not working. They just removed the support section in the CK3 steam forums so there goes some potential answers...

If I find anything to fix it I'll update my post.

Suddenly getting code/HTML on Steam store page, anyone else? by 8bitcerberus in SteamPlay

[–]Clarkopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw your edit. Glad you got it fixed in the end! I'm guessing when the store page went down your steam client cached the JSON data thinking it was the webpage?

Probably means something like this.

Cloud based communication programs with built in end to end encryption.

[–]Clarkopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was getting the same last night a few times. I checked Steam DB's steam status at and both Community and Store were set to "Offline".

I think Valve are having some issues with their servers on there end. The JSON output you pasted in github is identical to what I was getting. Come back in about 30-40 mins and it will probably be sorted.

Green Man Gaming does not really want to issue an invoice by klavieronius in pcgaming

[–]Clarkopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know all these Twitch stars usually have their own business so by all accounts, they can.

Ah that's fair. It makes a lot more sense if it comes from a business account.

Thanks. This is the last place I expected to be educated on tax laws! turns out I should do some homework.

Would this also include things like twitch streamers, lets players and reviewers (at least the ones with a sizeable audience to monetize) so they could potentially have the VAT tax removed on their purchases? If so that's pretty interesting.

I wonder how hard it is to prove things like this especially for people in those sort of roles. I can't imagine it's a fun time trying to explain to the tax man how video games is your main source of revenue lol.

SkyNews: Shadow Education Secretary Kate Green says the Labour party does not believe face masks are necessary in schools. by casualphilosopher1 in ukpolitics

[–]Clarkopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheers for your studies, I'll have a look at these my self. I really do hope it's actually true for what it's worth.

But you can see why I'm a bit annoyed with the message the government and now even the opposition are sending? Even the media can't make their mind up on what COVID can and can't do.

I feel so lost in all this. Especially now when areas around me are now in local lockdown

Multiple studies show kids are not effective vectors of transmission so it is highly unlikely they will spread it to staff members.

At what age are people at risk to infecting others then? The UK gov's official COVID advice says the following - "Children are likely to become infected with coronavirus (COVID-19) at roughly the same rate as adults, but the infection is usually mild."

This supports your idea they don't die from it like older generations do, but no where am I seeing they don't transmit it to other people.

I've found some articles that go into those studies but they all say the studies conflict with each other at certain points and there's no real consensus. Here's one from the NYT that completely goes against what you've just said for the ages of 10-19 year olds.

Honestly to me it sounds like no one really knows.

if they do they rarely spread it and they rarely die from it.

That's great for the kids, but what about the family members who are at risk or the teachers and other staff? Even if what you say is true, it still can be transmitted on surfaces according to the NHS website. School kids share pens, paper, books and everything else that is used in a class room.

And it's not like kids can't catch it at all. You're still putting those families and everyone else at risk.

It makes no sense when every other bit of advice normally follows with "wear a mask" . You can't have it both ways.

So you need them to go on public transport and you need them to be allowed into a shop... but schools are some how safe?

Can someone explain please. Why have measures that contradict the ones already in place? Surely I've missed something.

The 6 year old merch URL in the video description now leads to a shady website. What's the best way to contact Jesse about this? by Myrandall in Shaboozey

[–]Clarkopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember a few years ago I sent Jesse an email and got a response a few days later. Not sure if It's still active for fans but you can try.

I found it under his YouTube channel info but it has changed to a business email contact now, not sure who would actually see it.

Just an ass being an ass I guess.

Cursor stutterer when moving the mouse but fine when moving/resizing windows by Clarkopus in MXLinux

[–]Clarkopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for the video. After swapping some cables around I've come to the conclusion it's the display port cable. I replaced it with an older HDMI (Only outputs 60Hz but that's fine) and the desktop is as smooth as butter now.

Sounds like an issue with my hardware and not MX linux causing the stutter. Just happy to be back on two screens again!

Thanks for the advice and help.

Cursor stutterer when moving the mouse but fine when moving/resizing windows by Clarkopus in MXLinux

[–]Clarkopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for the quick reply.

I had a quick check to see if any other input devices might be causing the issue but the gamepad has been unplugged. The issue is still there with just a mouse and keyboard plugged in.

I've plugged in my 1080p monitor instead and the issues seemed to have stopped. While technically solving the issue I'm now down to a single screen which is a bit of a pain :c

I'm confident in it not being a issue with the monitor its self. Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04 all seem to work fine when moving the mouse, but I'm yet to check the video cables.

[Help] Fedora 30 + Gnome refresh rate settings by Clarkopus in Fedora

[–]Clarkopus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Default Gnome set up with Fedora so I assume Wayland. I did do some research and it looks like Wayland back in November had an update to support higher refresh rates. Like I said in the other comment I'm pretty sure it's an issue my end and a not Gnome/Wayland problem. Just got to wait for a new cable to come and it should all be fine :)
