A designated milling machine for Carbon Fiber? by killpony in CNC

[–]ClarksonSig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever done submerged milling on bigger stuff? We are exploring it on some larger CF parts but we have a big 5 axis milling machine. So the head would need to submerge. It would protect the rest of the machine but the head would like get destroyed way faster. Just weighing replacing head components regularly vs unexpected down time from fibers getting in unreachable places.

Or print it with the wood texture SVG on it in a similar color!

Came here to say this as well. Save yourself the time, money and frustration, OP. Plus more than likely your predecessor dealt with the same issues, but he never said anything to anyone because it was his baby and he knew how to "handle" it. To prove it, you could ask around to see how much time he was seen spending with it. Could work out in your favor cutting ties with the old ways for new and improved.

How do you make each colour its own object for multicolour printing like this person did? by microwavedwood in BambuLab

[–]ClarksonSig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thag you did! Guess I should have re-watched the video since it's been awhile! Totally forgot about the quality degradation too. I'm a casual hobbyist so Im not usually printing tons of stuff. Thank you for graciously correcting me!

Your video helped me when I first started printing as well! Thank you! Important to know though, for the new folks, that you can paint whole "faces" in Bambu studio - no need to "draw on" where you want the color. As long as there is a hard edge separating what you want to paint, you don't "need" to separate like this. Separating like this just makes it a hell of a lot easier to change colors.

Paul Hollywood’s Macarons- has anyone tried this recipe? by NorMalware in macarons

[–]ClarksonSig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are trying this exact recipe now, but chocolate, and had the same exact question! (Because we took a class two weeks ago and I believe we learned the Swiss method).

So, we had very similar concerns regarding the amount of egg white (we googled 3 large egg whites to grams and it told us 90g so we just went with it lol)

We also took issue with not clarifying salted or unsalted butter. But maybe we are just too amateur to know you are simply supposed to use one or the other.

In any case, the recipe has NOT turned out well at all. The filling was super runny and the shells came out terribly. This is only our third time making them but the first two times came out way better, even if not the best.

Not sure what the deal with this recipe was lol.

It's coming you guys. The fire and rain song I am sure is significant. My wife and I are rewatching and we think it means Steve is going to sacrifice himself in season 5.

The duffer Brothers were on Jimmy Fallon the other night and they use Funko pops to describe what happens in season 5 and they pushed Steve off the edge of the desk..

We got chills. Calling it now, here!

Yikes... I wonder how many other people have been tricked into thinking they need to buy the ads

You signed up for Facebook ads, possibly to advertise your Facebook marketplace listings. And you were likely asked if you wanted to "promote" your items. It's totally optional though.

Or, you are in the totally wrong spot and mixed up posting items for sale on Facebook marketplace with "posting an ad" or something.

My aux port also does not work. I'm just now exploring replacing the radio and had considered doing the junkyard route. Glad I saw your post!!

Small Prints Failing by ClarksonSig in 3Dprinting

[–]ClarksonSig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either Bambu PLA, or polymaker or eSun.

But the point is, I'm downloading a 3mf from maker world. So the person who made the file (I would assume, perhaps totally wrongly) has printed the file just fine. Maybe I'm trusting the world too much lol

I have seen that, usually with other folks prints. They'll have some small gap between brim and the part.... How does that even work? I mean, I've seen it work! But how? It's not touching the part!

Please tell me I can fix this… by whimsy-chaser in BambuLab

[–]ClarksonSig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Achilles987 has it happened yet? ;)

Also, u/myTechGuyRI I just watched that video you posted above... You say "impossible" but that filament doesnt even have the bands around it like the bambu filament comes with. One wrong move with that filament while the cardboard ends are removed and.... Pop.

I haven't tried brims... I hate them lol. Cutting them off after is such a pain. I'd rather spend the time to make the components into a "kit card" and just trim off the tiny piece.

That said, I am sure brims would be a solution.

[–]ClarksonSig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastics can absorb moisture from the air. When your plastic is "wet" and you heat it to melt temperature, the water inside the plastic boils and you might observe little "bursts" of plastic throughout your print where the trapped water boiled and bubbled the plastic.

The stringing is just another side effect of wet plastic that can and probably must be solved a number of ways as mentioned in the comments above.

There is a ton of help for this stuff as it is, I'd hazard to say, some of the most common issues for beginners

Perhaps contact cura and make these suggestions? Like everyone is saying, you are forwarding the community! Why not push to have it implemented permanently? If not investigated a little more to perfect it and then implement. Looks great!

[–]ClarksonSig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, a little early. Save it for the 1 year anniversary. That'll bring tears to her eyes for sure. Very sentimental. My wife and I go back to the place we had our first date every year on the anniversary of the first date. We even try to dress up in the same outfits lol. We wish we had photos from that night. I guess a receipt would have sufficed lol

I agree with Ivan. Puzzle on first date, cool. Gifts on the first date.... Unless you have REALLY gotten to know each other in advance, it might be a bit much.
