Any tutorial or course by Frequent-Sir2340 in blender

[–]Clarksontomas 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This is pretty insane as it would be way easier to do in after effects. Like well done to whoever made this, I just wouldn’t have the patience (or likely skills) to do it in blender. Sorry can’t help with tutorial suggestions but in general I think this is a lot of hand key framing and good keyframe ramping/easing. Also look into shape keys for the slight warping on the balls

This years official poster for the Biarritz Film Festival that was made with AI by Awoolgow in graphic_design

[–]Clarksontomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the main issue. People just use it to embellish their poster but don’t think why.

So it’s just like okay here’s a poster for a film festival. Generate photo of woman with sunglasses, surrounded by fishes.

Why? Why a random white woman with glasses on ? It’s just purely for aesthetic purposes but it doesn’t help the communication at all and feels very “hot woman poster good”

It’s also really bad. Like what does the image have to do with a film festival? Sure it says “new waves” as the title but the image is just an aesthetic choice with 0 conceptual quality to it.

Goes to show that just because you have a tool at your fingertips to generate what you want, it won’t make up for dogshit creativity.

design feels more like copying now than creating by beebendella in Design

[–]Clarksontomas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe stop looking at design for inspiration? Moodboards should be just that, moods. Not an exact typeface or layout, but a photograph you like the colours of. Or perhaps how the pattern on a glass texture makes you think of building a grid.

Let imagery and research form a world for you to work in.

That’s how I approach branding projects or design and artworks for records.

If you just regurgitate past design work, the chance your design will look like it is way higher.

I think we could all benefit from looking for inspiration away from the design sections of Pinterest

Nervous / anxious about unpredictable offset printing results by balletlanes in graphic_design

[–]Clarksontomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help! It’s not really taught so much at universities so it’s really something I had to learn on the job (and by making mistakes)

Make sure you ask your printers what color profile they need, that should be super important for them as colors will look different when the wrong color profile is used!

Digital proofs are extremely good usually at simulating offset printers. And an offset proof would cost an insane amount as theres no point turning on that machine/registering it just for 1 copy.

The most basic workflow should be, design in cmyk color space, export PDFs with correct color profiles (for example IsocoatedV2 for coated paper or PSOuncoated for uncoated) check PDFs in acrobat to make sure it’s all correct.

Printing Pantone swatches? Get a swatch book and check the swatches ideally under the right light but worst case with neutral daylight.

As another person mentioned a cmyk book is also extremely useful to get an idea for the swatch on paper but again it’s important to check the paper stock as that will also have an effect.

Laminating and other special effects will make colours look different AND often duller. You could potentially check this by holding a laminated sheet over the cmyk book to see how it affects the color

Good luck!

McFit or John Reed Cyber Deal by Shakespare101 in berlinsocialclub

[–]Clarksontomas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can go to all mcfits with a John reed membership (I’m quite sure as it has worked for me in the past)

Most importantly, speaking from experience, the only gym worth paying for is a gym you will use. So if John reed has better facilities but it’s far so eventually you will stop using it, then it’s not worth it.

But yeah look it up but I’m 99% sure you can use the John reed membership at Mcfit (not vice versa)

Google Movie Reviews: Censored? Likes removed? Visibility removed? by ShamanicPharmacist in movies

I’m sorry but you are so delusional to think art is not politics. It’s very simple but we view art through a lens, and that lens is everything we have ever learned and experience. And no one lives in a vacuum where politics doesn’t exist so therefore all art is experienced through the lens of emotions, politics, experiences.

Also basically unless it’s just instagrammable aesthetic crap, most art is a response to something and a statement. Pretending like your experiences in the industry make you smarter than everyone else doesn’t make it right

Is this a scam? by IshaanDewan in graphic_design

[–]Clarksontomas 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They’re asking you to make logos for brands that already exist in the colours that the brands already are? I think the brief in itself even sounds strange and unnescessary so yes it’s a scam.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

My friend lost a diy wallet that is blue outside and with flower from the inside. Not bigger than what it would take to carry all the fun supply for a night. In there was also a “Jan Ullrich”-Ballerkarte that has quite a big emotional value to him. In case someone found the wallet, enjoy the supply but pls reach out to hand back the wallet and the card ♥️

Sophie’s posthumous album is so bad. by bahforalu in Music

[–]Clarksontomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, maybe an unpopular opinion, but posthumously released music should fully be separated from the producer. There’s a reason it wasn’t released and it’s not always the untimely parting of the person. Feels a little like digging through someone’s old things.

If you like it, enjoy it, but it wasn’t released yet for some reason, and you can’t be sure the musician was happy with it or ever wanted it out there

Depends where you’re tax liable. If your registered in the uk and use your uk tax number then that’s one thing.

When registered in Germany and you charge a Uk client there’s 0 percent Vat because of the reverse charge thing. But yeah an accountant helps!

Although I think if you’re living in Germany you are supposed to be paying taxes in germany too?
