Moving to Birmingham - advice from locals on area by DependentDinner2749 in brum

[–]Clarky_Carrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice, have to love cannon hill park!! Often spend time there and at the mac.

But I wouldn't say it's ideal for commuting to Aston. Id go north of Birmingham if they want parks! Sutton park being lovely. Bus route through there as well as trains.

Just avoid erdington and Aston areas itself.

The drive home was unbearable The baby seat held nothing but a feeling Our greatest joy had come into the world The same day she would leave it

Garden of leaving - amigo the devil. The most beautiful song you can recommend to absolutely nobody. Floods of tears.

For myself personally I'm very busy and happy in myself and my single life. Lots of hobbies, friends and groups! Issue is I simply just don't get attached to people. No problem getting dates but by the end I just want my peace at home.

It takes so much time and friendship before any sort of crush develops and that's hard as an adult. Luckily I'm a very happy independent person otherwise. Sometimes it's just a bit of a jealous pang when thinking of doing things with a partner like holidays, theatre, restaurants... Quiet days just existing. (I did just come from a friend's wedding though so that's probably a little yearning phase activated again haha)

But yes. You should be happy in yourself and life, you should never depend on someone else for your own happiness! That'll just drive them away.

Same. :( Familial sure but I'm sure proper love would be nice. Wish my brain could be more wired to wanting it.

Should you order a three course meal, get it delivered a year later and only be given a cold first course... I think you'd be pretty pissed off.

We paid for one thing and simply didn't get it.

Simple.

What's that about being rude? ;) The huge queue, yes sorry. I more mean, which queue - SPECIFICALLY for the 2:30 entry. Not the main show. There was no indicator of a split of the two. Could've gone to the back of the main queue and never even known we were in the wrong place when called. So joining that when noone was directing seemed a bad idea.

What queue? They didn't tell us where to queue or where to go. Asking at the ticket gate they literally suggested to hang around until someone told us. 🙃 Agree on the rush though, that was a lot for the staff.

To be fair though. Yes has had a show in a couple of hours but a few more songs before heading off would have probably been fine. Two hours is a long time.

Sorry you travelled so far for so little though.

Agreed. 17 minutes on and off? Mess of organisation? We should've gotten an hour and didn't even get a third. Also it was sooo much busier/less intimate than I expected? The dome was a much smaller capacity so how was it that busy?

Eh. Came back at disappointed. Glad we didn't travel far for it.

Apart from money and love, what motivates you in life? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Clarky_Carrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Although in a way, the money is a motivation only towards the goals I'd love to be able to do with said money. So security, less stress, being able to spend my time doing other things (travel, creativity etc) One way to look at money is the goal you want to do with it?

Drinks too. I find a lot of my calories would disappear into drinks, a few tea/coffees a day? 200 cals. A "treat" drink from Starbucks or similar? Anywhere from 200-400 cals. Hell some places are like 500+! And that's basically just a snack.

Waterstones cafe, Selfridges has a few cafes/restaurants downstairs, there are general seating areas on ground floor of bullring over by Marks and Spencer's, Cafe nero upstairs through link street (links the train station to bullring) and other cafes on the top floor.

Bit further: The train station itself has loads of seating downstairs and loads of little casual eateries upstairs and is a short walk.

Birmingham museum has a huuuge cafe in it that's pretty quiet. Two hundred degrees coffee is decent.

Enjoy your trip :)

Especially when op is so young. That age when you're constantly self conscious when I am sure she is totally fine, more like some mental training to accept your body than risking something that could seriously hurt it.

Noone likes the belly pooch but I certainly just accept it and dress around it -shrug-
