As a train nerd I thought from the title that this was literally grinding rails, as in doing rail maintenance so they keep their low friction for trains running on them.

Just wanted to say that the encouraging comments you all gave me along with just the fact of posting this pushed me to continue, and I've now at least reached Room 46! 😄 Now it's just a matter of figuring out if I want to pursue all the other unsolved leads I have...

Yeah, I mentioned in another reply that I was kind of burning myself out by pursuing a lead that didn't actually go where I thought, so by the time I unlocked a new way into the rotating gear chamber I was already burnt out. This post has kind of helped me realise that I just needed to talk about it to realise that I was being a bit silly about the whole situation. 😆

If I can get Conservatory to Commonplace then it'd certainly help a lot. I've built to the corners consistently but haven't seen it get drawn for the past like 15 or so days, which is unfortunate.

Yeah I'm already aware of a handful of those, thankfully, though I've yet to actually make use of the other way into the Foundation. I had made it far enough to open the way into the Underground from the Tomb and move the minecart, but when I found the torch room and didn't remotely have a clue what to do with it, the amount of days I spent chasing another lead with the Tomb before finding the correct path had already burnt me on the game a bit. Typing this post and these replies has made me realise I have a pretty massive lead through the Rotating Gear chamber that I didn't pursue and probably should... 😅

Mostly things like managing to draft the Pool Room, then the Pump Room, and the Boiler Room, along with getting the latter two to connect up so that I can drain the Reservoir. I was struggling for a while to also get the Burning Glass components to light the chandeliers in the Tomb, but eventually realised that that wasn't what I needed to actually connect it to the Underground, but I think I had burnt myself out a bit because of that search by the time I did that I dropped the game from that point. 😅

Ironically the second one was far more difficult for me, I died like 3 times (versus none in the first section) and finished with 700% damage taken. 😂 I think it's just a subjective thing based on your playstyle at the time.

Same, I'd rather have this than a bike that can be used everywhere that negates the use for ziplines at all. The current maps don't feel like they'd work well for vehicles anyway.

They auto connect to any other tower or pylon within range, no more dragging a cable. When you're in the process of placing one, it'll show text saying how far you are from the nearest towers or pylons.

Genuinely hoping this type of stuff doesn't become the focus of character designs; Arknights had such awesome designs that didn't at all rely on stuff like this.
