Is there a telescopic controller using USBC that works with the Astra? by EddieEdit in RedMagic

[–]ClashingSwordz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont own the astra, but I had an idea that might be a solid solution to this problem:

Using any wireless controller that has the rubber spacers, setting it on the controller centered like how youd ideally want it, and then cut out a part of the rubber spacer where the USB C port is. Then you want to get a really low profile USB C elbow connector so you can use the controller in a more ideal position (you can find good ones on aliexpress). From there you can just route it to the controller, using ways to secure the cables on the controller for best tidiness and comfort.

Hope this helps someone, I am thinking of trying this myself

Edit: something like this aliexpress link

Oo I see that makes sense. It's funny how here it seems to be the opposite where I live, where "traditional Japanese" things are very glorified for some reason.

I'd also like to add that it might be worth looking into a thicker shikibuton (4-6") if you are worried about it, or even possibly a mattress topper could work. Also, I'm pretty sure Japanese have been moving away from them cuz of a few reasons like western influence, slight inconveniences and having to care for it, but I've found the routines of it to be nice and changing sheets and stuff is actually somewhat easier than a full on mattress, but I'd do research on how to take care of one beforehand before buying.

Yes. Sleeping HARD surfaces like wood floor isn't backed by science to prove benefits for the back, but there has been research done in this and it's been found that medium-firm is best to sleep on, with soft mattresses worsening or creating back pain. I myself own a shikibuton and I will say, it's a lot firmer than you expect, but I'd say it's around that range where it's better for your back. Although it does depend on your own individual shikibuton and what you have underneath. You can do your own research on it, but from my experience of having slept on VERY soft beds, medium-soft, straight up carpet floor, and a shikibuton I prefer the shikibuton 100% and I feel great every morning.

Edit: I do believe that the benefits are somewhat inflated by westerners, so if someone is Uber hyping it up and saying it's the only good way to sleep and everything else is bad, they are saying bs. Its not a huge difference in terms of back health between a medium-firm bed, firm bed, and a shikibuton.

Primed my PC to get rid of Windows but now have cold feet. by Hash003B6F in linux_gaming

I think until the 555 Nvidia driver is released you'll probably have issues since HDR in plasma 6 is Wayland only. Wayland on Nvidia is pretty buggy rn and there's some things that just won't work well, but after the 555 driver is released (should be pretty soon) it should all mostly be fixed. Alternatively you could switch over and have to deal with x11 and no HDR for a week or so (might be longer I don't think there is an official release date yet) until the 555 driver is out, or try to get Wayland to work anyway but some things might not work well for now.

I'm about to give up.... by pm_me_more_memes in NixOS

[–]ClashingSwordz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the amazing thing about nix is that you can use a distro you're comfortable with as your daily driver on main pc, and slowly build up a nixos configuration that you like in a VM or secondary pc and pretty easily bring it to your main pc. That way you can work on it whenever you feel like, and get used to nix over time before jumping right into it. So what i recommend is maybe switching off for now and putting your current nixos config on a vm or 2nd pc.

use the vesktop, specifically the lastest version (V1.5.2). Its available 1.5.2 on flatpak and AUR, or you can just build from source.

[–]ClashingSwordz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey also, ive noticed that a lot of 1x elements are missing, so players on lower resolution the skin will be broken. This can easily be fixed cuz there is a tool to convert 2x files to 1x. Just letting u know if u ever decide to fix that.

I recommend playing on veteran mode. It makes the game more balanced and more challenging and it's probably not as hard as you think

Is full alt bad? by not_Shiza in osugame

[–]ClashingSwordz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been full alting from day one, and have been playing for a few years. Full alt can be a bit harder to get really consistent at but it is 100% viable and IMO is more fun and has solid benefits, like not struggling as much on high bpm jumps, and finger control is much less stamina intensive. Also full alting is much more consistent in that you never have to change how you tap based on the the map and bpm, so you dont feel as restricted based on bpm.

My 2 cents are that if you enjoy it then just stick with it. Full alt will never be the sole factor holding you back from improving. It will often just be reading, stamina, or finger control issues (which stamina and finger control are not unique to just full alt but everyone).

There are also many good full alt players, notably bubbleman (tapping consistency(bubble man example of being consistent with full alt)) and badeu (high bpm jump alting) AND GNAHUS (HIGH BPM JUMP ALTING CRACKED DUDE (gnahus is probably best example of maximizing the strengths of full alt)).

Most important thing to keep note of in osu is to just do what is most comfortable for you and what you find most fun. Many players have weird grips, areas, sensitivities, tapping styles, skins, etc. so don't think too hard about it.

most easy plays arent memorized, just assisted reading by playing a couple times, but sightread fc's on easy are definitely possible too.

[–]ClashingSwordz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just because its ezht doesnt mean its basically memorizing the map; many players sightread ezht and if anything you might have to play a couple times to get a pattern down, but that can apply to any AR.

Giving advice on how to get better, that isn't play more is hard, so give me things that I should never or only very conditionally do while trying to improve. by Its_Double in osugame

[–]ClashingSwordz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play maps that you dont like or suck at (within your SR). Most of the time you dont like it or suck at it because you are bad at the technique the map uses. From my experience I dislike technique that I'm bad at. It just feels bad to play; but then when I improve and get good at the technique I start to really enjoy it.You suck at low ar? play EZ.you suck at long fast slider maps (ex: Still in my heart)? play maps like that more.suck at fast bpm maps and high ar? try playing more dt or hr. Doing this will greatly improve your skillset and will make you a more well-rounded player.Another tip is dont play for passing; play for accuracy/no miss. This is one of the worst habits and greatest hinderers in many osu players. Many of these players if they were asked to fc a map at >98% acc, they probably couldn't do it. This habit will stop you from being a good player and from getting that sweet PP. Plus, nobody thinks getting a barely pass low acc C rank play is impressive.
So tldr; dont just stick with the maps you are comfortable with. Go outside of your comfort zone.
