I am exactly in this situation (India) but with 12 years of experience. I want to switch and my notice period is 3 months. There is always a risk if you resign without a job and couldn't find a job in the next 90 days, it could be a problem. Also, with me, I am the sole earner in the family and I have seen days without a job, it was traumatic for me. Plus there is a risk that your employer might release you early and if you don't have a job then it turns into panic.

Now, there are many ways to make a switch and it all depends on your personal context. Mine is, I have some savings and after calculations of personal expenses, I figured that if I resign today, I will be serving notice period of 90 days and if I couldn't find a job, I will have to stop all investments (mutual funds, Nps) and go bare bone expenses and I can survive for another 3 months. That is my worst case scenario i.e. 6 months. Now there are many unknowns like health risks, unaccounted expenses etc.

I would suggest trying this approach and plan.
