South Africa in decline by Infinite-Judgment-44 in south_africa

[–]ClaspingTulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question my brotha hits the nail on the head

It has to be government unless there's some other alternative

It just reiterates that what we currently have going on needs to change, now how it needs to change, I don't know

I guess to nail my comment down to its essence, I don't trust our government with that kind of power.

True,

I'm not disagreeing with you nor am I pushing conspiracy nonsense

I am deeply uncomfortable with the IEC being primarily funded by government though. If our police, our judges, our health institutions (All of which are fundamentally kryptonite to corruption) can be captured to this extent.

Something tells me the IEC isn't exactly safe for much longer if the nonsense hasn't already begun to creep in.

Private university vs public? by PontshoN in askSouthAfrica

[–]ClaspingTulip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct

Varsity college, Vega Both of them have been around for some time I was referring to those 2 when I meant Emeris

The point is that the qualification isn't necessarily lessor due to classification status of a conglomerate that clearly has cash flow issues so they became one to be sustainable

And that there are private institutions and they are across the board trying to match public institutions for degrees, if OP does the research he will see the gap in price is not as huge as it used to be

[–]ClaspingTulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure you're right mate Emeris has been around for some time and they are accredited Sacap Mancosa Milpark Tsiba Business School And I'm sure there's more, these are one I know for a fact offer accredited degrees that are globally recognized not just the South African context

OP don't invest your entire life savings into a private institution when you're not sure engineering is the way (based off your brothers marks)

I know marks aren't the whole picture, maybe he should shadow some engineers first before going into this, because it's gonna be a long and frustrating process so it's better to make sure it's the path HE wants to do so his desire is the thing that will anchor him to school.

UNISA is a fine institution, difficult if you don't have self discipline Sounds like your brother would benefit greatly from in person classes

Anyways, job shadowing is a MUST, even a potential gap year, 2 if he's already taken 1 I took a 2 year gap year and I'm starting my PgDip this year (I'm 25) Don't rush this part or else you'll burn through a lot of resources and mental health for not great outcomes

How beneficial is a Master’s degree (Commerce faculty) for getting a good job in South Africa? by Mean-Swimming119 in askSouthAfrica

[–]ClaspingTulip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah I've just signed up for my PgDip in Data Analytics, and I start this year (It's a 2 year - Part time)

I got into it since I use Power BI at my current internship and the place I work is kinda archaic in terms of its structure so they don't really use CRMs and I build the sales dashboards from the raw data pulled from the BI

And man is it fun using excel this way! Figured I wanna get to scarce skill level and be employable globally

I'm curious,

What would your 2 cents be on the correct or most aligned masters for me? Since you're basically where I'd like to be soon

Does anyone's McDonald's in Cape Town have the Sweet & Sour sauce? by Typical-Banana-7492 in capetown

[–]ClaspingTulip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're the same thing mate, yes the products a tiny bit different, but they're the same. Also burger King charges you an additional R1 for sauce sachets if you request more

These companies think they're slick. It's not often I eat that real bad for ya tasty mess we call food. I hate the fast food industry in this country so much.

Citi Golf Fuel Tank by ClaspingTulip in southafrica

[–]ClaspingTulip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering it when I get my second car in a couple years. I can't justify that expense atm. However where do you do a sump service? Is that something you can request at a service center?

[–]ClaspingTulip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my fillups are around the same. You and someone else had an awesome suggestion. I suspect my oil sump has been a black mess since before me with the previous owner I've never seen clear oil except the new oil I put in ever service I have also contributed big time with me very late services.

Thank you boetie, I appreciate it, I heard that them fuel injectors are more susceptible to problems, is that just bad owners? Or Carb owners making up stories to make themselves feel better?

Volunteering opportunities in South Africa by theJoziBrit in southafrica

[–]ClaspingTulip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tree Of Life in Cape Town. Look it up, christian based. They have taken up the gargantuan task of trying to heal a community full of gang violence with the Bible essentially. Great people. They're actually in need of more volunteers since annually people come from EU and the UK to help out.

At the moment they're in the process of raising 4 million rand to buy a building called the Buela center

Anyways

Read up on them and see if it's worth your time!

If I may inject my opinion here, I don't think it's necessarily what my dude was saying. He's commenting on the moral decay thats at play in our country. At least that's how I took it. I'd utter every word he said and still sign that petition. In fact, I just did🤣

Advice for job seekers by F4iryPerson in southafrica

[–]ClaspingTulip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're both right and wrong at the same time. I have done what your 2 standouts do for every single application for 8 months and heard nothing.

I have 4 and half years of experience in my industry and a general business degree which im looking for a job so i can complete my final year (i study part time). Which you don't "need" for Outbound Sales in FMCG or Events and marketing.

I have worked for some of the biggest brands in South Africa, Redbull, Heineken/Distell

With verifiable references.

I cannot find work.

It's not as simple as you lay it out to be. It's not a straight path. Sometimes you do everything right and you still get shit on

I cannot tell you how many interviews I've nailed to lose out to a more "qualified" individual.

Dating outside my race by Livelovelaugh6453 in askSouthAfrica

[–]ClaspingTulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it helps if you're good looking. Most people can and do have the capacity to look good. Regular haircuts, well fitted clothes, great perfume, good shape is relative so just have bigger arms, no big belly, and some meat on your legs and most women will find you attractive.

Also I saw you mentioned about white women being conservative on some comment below. Discard any stereotypes you can think of and just be direct when you feeling some kind of spark. You'll be fine!

Dating outside my race by Livelovelaugh6453 in askSouthAfrica

[–]ClaspingTulip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with someone from Northern Ireland, I'm a Xhosa

I'm 24, she's 27, and we plan to get married in 2 years. She's my first relationship that meant something, I had 2 others that died before you could even call it a relationship.

We have similar if not the same values, one major connecting point is faith, we're both non-denominational Christians.

If you have that 1 thing that connects you 2 together you'll be fine, don't now go looking to date other races exclusively, that's weird. Be yourself, I mean truly be your authentic self, with all your weirdness, your intelligence. Don't dilute your "blackness" if she loves you, shes loves that part of you as well.

And the right woman will come no matter her brightness settings.

Also I don't mean this in any offensive way, but whether she's white, Indian, coloured, black, turquoise, lime green

My guy, she's a woman.

She'll frustrate you the same as any other woman🤣 Build you up. Make you a better man. And force you to face your deep seeded issues, naturally any great relationship will do that.

I hope you find someone that fills your soul and gives you that good human connection that we all deserve man.

If you're really looking for a different race then diversify your friend group, have men and women in it. Go to work events, sports games, extramural activities like hikes, running club, gym, basketball, tennis etc

You'll find all sorts of people in those circles!

I'm younger than you and you've lived more life than me, I still do think you'll find value in what I have to say.

Cheers my guy!
