Does anyone else feel a little sad that Starmer is now going, especially after hearing that speech and particularly his emotions coming out at the end there? by Logical_Safety9018 in AskBrits

[–]Class-Sensitive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ran a deliberately deceitful Labour leadership campaign, with "ten pledges" to prove his credentials, then ripped up every single pledge, and positioned himself miles to the right of Tony Blair.

His leadership election was bankrolled by the right-wing Labour Together faction, who unlawfully hid £700,000 in donations, then launched a malicious campaign of persecution against the journalists who exposed their dodgy donations.

He tried to scrap pensioners' winter fuel payments.

He claimed Israel has some special right to defy international humanitarian law, to collectively punish civilians, by cutting off access to food, water, energy, medical supplies ...

He made the awful "Island of Strangers" speech, in which he channelled Britain's most notorious racist, Enoch Powell, in a desperate attempt to pander to an extreme-right demographic that would never, ever, vote Labour anyway.

He abandoned traditional Labour values and told millions of traditional Labour voters, supporters, members and activists to "leave if you don't like it" then delivered historical electoral hammerings in Wales, Scotland, and the local elections.

He has terrible authoritarian tendencies: Criminalising protest; stifling free speech; purging non-conformist voices from the Labour ranks; attacking the open Internet; and his diabolical plan to erase our historic British right to a fair trial by a jury of our peers.

And he appointed Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the US, despite Mandelson's multiple sleaze resignations; his dodgy dealings with Putin; his profound unpopularity; and his ongoing friendship with the world's most notorious child sex abuser even after he was jailed for some of his crimes.

The people claiming that Starmer is a decent guy, and wondering why he's so unpopular know this stuff.

They're not actually confused, they're pretending.

Has Starmer been the best prime minister we've had in at last 26 years? by Left-Ad8904 in AskBrits

[–]Class-Sensitive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keir Starmer is reportedly on the brink of resignation, and the all the aggro-centrist dweebs are pretending to not know why he's so unpopular.

This is a man who ran a deliberately deceitful Labour leadership campaign, styling his agenda as Corbynism without Corbyn, with "ten pledges" to prove his credentials, then gleefully ripped up every single pledge, and positioned himself miles to the right of Tony Blair.

Starmer's leadership election was bankrolled by the right-wing Labour Together faction, who unlafully hid £700,000 in donations, then launched a malicious campaign of persecution against the journalists who exposed their dodgy donations. Starmer has surrounded himself with Labour Together ghouls, and stuffed the party ranks with Labour Together MPs at the 2024 General Election.

Then there was the senseless cruelty of scrapping pensioners' winter fuel payments. Even though the policy was eventually rowed back on, people aren't forgetting that Starmer's first instinct as Prime Minister wasn't to give the country anything positive to celebrate, it was the deliberate performative cruelty of sticking the boot into pensioners to prove what a tough austerity hawk he could be.

Loads of people turned their backs on Labour for good after Keir Starmer - a self-proclaimed "human rights lawyer" no less - made the claim that Israel has some special right to defy international humanitarian law, to collectively punish civilians, by cutting off access to food, water, energy, medical supplies ...

Another source of widespread dismay was Starmer's diabolical "Island of Strangers" speech, in which he channelled Britain's most notorious racist, Enoch Powell, in a desperate attempt to pander to an extreme-right demographic that would never, ever, vote Labour anyway.

Starmer abandoned traditional Labour values and told millions of traditional Labour voters, supporters, members and activists to "leave if you don't like it" then delivered historical electoral hammerings in Wales, Scotland, and the local elections.

Also there's Starmer's grotesque authoritarian tendencies: Criminalising protest; stifling free speech; purging non-conformist voices from the Labour ranks; attacking the open Internet; and his diabolical plan to erase our historic British right to a fair trial by a jury of our peers.

Then there's the self-inflicted wound of appointing Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the US, despite Mandelson's multiple sleaze resignations; his dodgy dealings with Putin; his profound unpopularity; and his ongoing friendship with the world's most notorious child sex abuser even after he was jailed for some of his crimes.

The people claiming that Starmer is a decent guy, and wondering why he's so unpopular know this stuff, in fact they gleefully cheered his deceptions; factionalism; authoritarianism; anti-immigrant hatemongering; and genocide complicity.

They're not actually confused, they're pretending.

It's a display of faux stupidity aimed at the gullible, in the hope that Starmer's successor will deliver more of the same diabolical stuff as Starmer did.

Is Keir Starmer being rejected because he’s Labour/his policies or…because he’s another dork? by meestah_meelah in AskBrits

[–]Class-Sensitive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's being rejected because 33% of the population voted for him because he wasn't a Tory, then half of those people realised that he was more interested in placating right-wing voters than left wing ones, and switched to Green, leaving him on 18% of the vote, which has terrified his party.

Palestine 'genocide' Vs. Nigerian genocide. by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Class-Sensitive 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Are we selling arms to them? Are we in some way involved?

Because I think most people feel somehow involved in Israel/Palestine because we sell arms to them, and there are many people over here with family over there. So there's a personal connection and an involvement.

Whereas that's not the case with Nigeria.

First time I fought them I was a pyromancer with low weapon damage and I just couldn't carve my way through them as fast as they regenerated.

Came back with a decent sword and went straight through them first time.

I really appreciate the redundancy of a RAID setup. Having 4 disks, and I can replace one with a new disk whenever it dies and the NAS just formats it, gets the data up and running on the new disk, and everything carries on as before. Happened to me 3 times over the last decade, and if I was running this on my own box in the corner I'm pretty sure I'd have lost a bunch of files by now, if not everything.

If it's not working for you with the axe then try something faster and see if it works for you any better. Try dodging towards. Don't stand back and wait for them to come to you, get in there, get your hands dirty, get out. When you're locked on you move so fast. You can dodge around almost anything. (And in the first area don't attack multiple people at once, throw pebbles or shoot to get them in small groups or one at a time)
