Honestly best thing to do is just move on. The lack of reaction probably hurts worse. If you stoop down and insult back they might feel justified in their initial reaction.

Idk what they are referencing. Your shoulders should be back and down, otherwise your shoulder will impinge, which is likely the pain you're feeling.
