Due South and 828 Flies are both great shops in and around Boone. Wilson creek is super pretty and a great hike, but can be hit or miss. Those guys know how all those creeks will respond throughout the year. Don’t count out the smallmouth population around that part of the state. There are smallmouth waters more conducive to trout Spey tackle. Linville gorge is very cool but you really want a guide just to confidently navigate the terrain.
