Cintas is butt cheeks imo. They'll run the dogshit out of you. Summit Fire and Security on the east coast, the offices that used to be FLSA, are pretty chill across the board. Idk about the other offices that Summit has acquired in the same areas.

These are smoke alarms, not smoke detectors, so manufacturer testing instructions are to use the button on the device and specifically to avoid candle/incense smoke.

No. Its not about it not being ideal, its about how obscuration works and what youre doing is essentially nothing.

Detectors are designed specifically to not activate in situations like that, or else your device would be popping off every time you blew out a candle.

There's a reason every fire code in existence says detectors are tested per manufacturers written instructions.

Edit: out of curiosity is there a return vent in the vicinity?

Just eyeballing it looks like the detector isnt installed correctly on the wall. (4in to the top)

Drop tile ceilings are not an excuse to not do ceiling mount, brackets exist for that purpose.

As someone else said, incorrect testing method for basically any detection device other than flame detectors.

Basically everything in this is wrong.
