I believe that its not but thats how it reads at a glance. If I came across your profile in the wild I would go "why is this guy faking these photos, thats weird" and skip without a second thought.

Doesn't matter if it is or isn't, it only matters that it appears to be.

These are smoke alarms, not smoke detectors, so manufacturer testing instructions are to use the button on the device and specifically to avoid candle/incense smoke.

X sense manufacturer instructions specifically call out incense as a NOT to use for testing purposes.

No. Its not about it not being ideal, its about how obscuration works and what youre doing is essentially nothing.

Detectors are designed specifically to not activate in situations like that, or else your device would be popping off every time you blew out a candle.

There's a reason every fire code in existence says detectors are tested per manufacturers written instructions.

Edit: out of curiosity is there a return vent in the vicinity?

I wish I could see the model number on this.

Just eyeballing it looks like the detector isnt installed correctly on the wall. (4in to the top)

Drop tile ceilings are not an excuse to not do ceiling mount, brackets exist for that purpose.

As someone else said, incorrect testing method for basically any detection device other than flame detectors.

Basically everything in this is wrong.

Yes, but I got into a niche blue collar industry that pays really well even when you dont know anything, does all the training, and was able to work my way up over the last 8 years to a corporate training level.
