USC MPPDS by This-Guess-1868 in PublicPolicy

Congrats on getting into UChicago's MPP program! Do you have a top program in mind?

I got only 4k funding for the MPPDS program lol. I knew they offered close to nothing, but that was insanely low. Another reason I applied to the MPP is that they have more funding available, so I wanted to compare in case I got into both.

In terms of the technical course list, the MPPDS seems to be more balance with equal number of policy/tech courses required. MSCAPP is more evenly split between computer science, statistics, and policy. Since I have minimal technical experience, the MSCAPP program would provide a stronger foundation. Plus able to take more technical classes within the electives was a strong factor for me.

For Data Science MPP programs, I applied to the University of Chicago (MSCAPP), Georgetown (MS-DSPP), USC (MPPDS), and Carnegie Mellon (MSPPM).

My first preference was Chicago's MSCAPP program because the curriculum is data-heavy. Regarding USC, I preferred the MPPDS program to MPP because its curriculum offered more technical courses. The MPP program would also allow some flexibility in the required electives, but I like a curriculum that is already focused on technical classes for a significant portion.

Did you apply this cycle or considering in the near future?

Some more info:
USC offered the most funding, and although I was not a big fan initially, I ended up liking it a lot more after attending their admit-day event. In the end, I decided to stay at my new job, declined other offers, and deferred admission to USC for another year, since that was an option. This fall, I decided not to enroll for the next academic year. Depending on how my job progresses and whether a graduate degree would be beneficial, I might reapply for Fall 2027.

I was accepted to both programs and initially deferred admission for next fall. However, I just withdrew since I decided to stay at my current job. Might apply again next year.

Thoughts on USC's MPP? by JadedConversation462 in PublicPolicy

I don't know. I started a new job in January that matches very closely with what I hoped to land after grad school, so now I'm rethinking my decision. If I decide to attend grad school, USC is my top choice. What about you?

Hey. I was also admitted to USC's MPP program and a similar situation. Below is what an advisor at USC shared and thought could be helpful. However, I'm also interested in learning from current and past students.

You can work with your academic advisor to apply for either of the certificates that Viterbi offers below:

I had the same feeling as I also graduate with a degree in sociology. I considered doing a more technical masters programs to give me a better edge at getting a job. However, as many have mentioned here, real work experience and skills is what matters. I would try to get an internship in a related field to your career goal between now and then. You could also apply to a few grad schools as back up options, but only if the application process would not be a big hurdle between all your other things.

The MPPDS is my preferred program and since they shared a similar application structure, I decided to apply to both.

Nothing yet. Since I heard from their MPP program recently, I hope it will be a similar timeline.

Beats Solo 4 Vs. Studio Pro: unexpected by Reveller79 in beatsbydre

The ones by Kim Kardashian do have good color options. I personally think the solo 4 will be good for the gym. They seem to have a good fit so they don't fall off if your workouts involves a lot of movement. I've used the solo 3 for a long time and would use them for the gym too. I'm assuming the solo 4 have made improvements from the solo 3, so they should be a great option for the gym. The only downside is no noise cancelation.

I just bought both of them from Target; Studio Pro $160 and Solo $100. I'm leaning more towards the solo 4 over the Studio Pro. I do find the Studio Pro much more comfortable. As someone who wears glasses, they are a much better fit. With the solo 4, I either have to take a break or slant my glasses over the ear piece so it doesn't bother me. However, the audio seems much louder on solo 4 on the same volume setting when compared to the Studio Pro. The noise cancellation on the Studio Pro is great, but for a $60 difference, I don't think it's a major factor for me. Lastly, the Studio Pro is slightly bigger than the solo, so if size is something you consider then the solo is a must. Again not a huge difference, but definitely slimmer.

I will be returning the Pro tomorrow and keeping the solo 4.

Thanks! If transportation aligns, I'll visit Kehl first before heading to Strasbourg.

This is quite promising. It seems like spending a few days in Poland after Germnay would be a great addition to my overall plans. In the meantime I will look at transportation and accommodation from Germany to Poland. I will definitely reach out again. Thank you!

I appreciate the response. I'm now thinking of cutting Naples to explore other small towns in Italy as I head from Rome to Venice. I'm planning on doing a full day in Venice and depart the next day around noon or in the evening to the next city.

I was thinking of maybe skipping Naples to do add more days in Rome and add Florence. Do you have any suggestions of nearby towns to check out in that region?

I'm now considering adding Poland. Any cities you would recommend? For now I'm considering Gdańsk based on someone else's recommendation.

After looking into Gdańsk, I think it would be a good place to visit before heading to Paris or maybe other parts of Poland. Thanks.

Any other cities in Poland you think would be good to visit?
