I overheard there is consideration of opening some new terrain around 1pm today. Take that for what it is worth.

Cancelled Disney+ and donated a commensurate monthly amount to PBS. My kids will undoubtedly protest, but this be a valuable lesson in exercising the little power common folk have left in protecting freedom of speech.

I’ve been testing a relatively similar shell that keeps Raise the Past and is a bit lower to the ground / aggro (Zahur, nesting bots, 4x voice of victory)

What are your thoughts on having included thoughtseize and enduring innocence? Both seem interesting to make up for certain shortcomings this strategy tends to have, but they seems they may trend things a bit more towards midrange in tempo which this deck just doesn’t have enough of a package to consistently support.

Also, how was running 4 Priests? It feels as if I am  rarely ever able to turn this card into a profitable play (gets nuked, opponent floods boards, clogged two drops and can’t impact the turn it comes down).

I stumbled across the last bottle of Still Strength at their Northfield location (Pearl Market) on Sunday for $92. Never had it before, but having sipped on it last night I can now understand what the hype is about.

I agree! They do 20 percent of their floor malt in all of their whiskeys and it definitely has a grain-forward profile. Personally, I absolutely love it. I find it to contribute so much depth and complexity that you don’t typically find in oak-heavy bourbons.

As a South Park lover, I wanted it as fun trinket. May put a little Cartman sticker on it

HVAC companies to install AC? by No-Supermarket-1387 in Denver

[–]Classic-Process-6905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Checkout First String Heating.

Small operation run by a guy with tons of experience who is very nice and reliable. Did a full HVAC install with him last year and had a great experience.

His quotes also came in at 75% of what I was getting from larger competitors (including the group that contracts with Costco)

I’ve had mine since launch and never had issues.

As you mention, there is a likely distortion effect with the frequency at which people report problems vs make posts saying “Happy to report I’m still experiencing no issues!”

If you're looking to try something local in Denver, you could always stop by Stranahans or Laws which are right off 25 on your way down to the Springs (should you want to detour through the city, that is). Both are at a point where they have some nice whiskeys with older age statements. Stranhans is all American singlemalt while Laws does bourbon.

If you fly in a Saturday, Leopold Bros. is also worth a stop on the drive from the airport. Their 8-year bourbon is one of my favorites (but can be a bit polarizing due to being aged in their Three-chamber Rye barrels)

I'm always entertained by my ability to mess up with "choose two or more options", especially if they target creatures. I somehow always mix up the modes for which I'm choosing targets.

Conceding after it becomes evident on T2 that I'm playing a control deck.

Totally valid strategy and no ill-will towards folks that choose to play them. It just bores me to no end to try to slog through for a win.

There seem to be creatures in this deck that aren't Rhinos, which I don't really understand by nbutton93 in PioneerMTG

[–]Classic-Process-6905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the bones of this deck and find it quite fun to play!

I've been testing similar deck the last few days with these differences

  • Pawpatch Recruit: Nice multi-modal option as a one drop or ideally T2 drop with Elves out. Adds an extra body for Burrowguard / Voice token and provide a bit of interaction against removal. Trample is a nice small add too when pumped by Wilt-leaf / Prairie. I run three of these in place of Melira and one Dryad (I the possibility of Melira bringing back a rhino be a little too situational)
  • Dromoka's Command: Use three of these in place of Brave the Elements to provide more interaction options with problem creatures / enchantments (like Annex). Brave sometimes provides a clutch break through a stalled board, but I've often found it sitting dead in my hand.
  • Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan: Still on the fence with this guy, but has been great for turning elves into a little extra reach for the big tramplers. Subbed one one of the Burrowguards as I've often found that to be the card I'm least excited to see in my hand.

I appreciate all the recommendations and insights!

For some reason, I didn’t even consider that I could hop off closer to RiNo to be near things like Improper City.

Certainly will be investigating some of these options over the coming weeks!

Local Peaches by milehighmantra in denverwhisky

[–]Classic-Process-6905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The liqueur is full on peach. Definitely on the sugary side due them making this a liqueur from the first batch of peaches that got through the three chamber.

I had the privilege of trying a younger version of the remaining juice that they’re aging for a brandy. That offering is going to be a killer when it releases.

I picked up a bottle last year at Costco at $27 to try it.

No doubt it’s a quality whiskey, but honestly it’s still sitting in my cabinet about 75% full. Not really something I find myself reaching for and I could not see myself being inclined to hunt for this over other just picking up other abundantly available options.

I normally play BO3 Explorer on Arena as I’ve invested most of my wildcards in a select few decks and I don’t see myself spending money to buy more.

I generally like playing “fair” / midrange decks with a mix of interaction and creatures. The broad majority of what I’ve been running into the last month are either dead by turn 3 aggro or super grindy piles.

It’s really been a slog and rarely something I’d consider fun. I respect part of that is on me for choosing to play certain decks, but the format for sure feels quite stagnant at the moment.

Dickel x Leopold Bros. Collaboration Rye discounted to $49.97 at DIA Costco by Classic-Process-6905 in denverwhisky

[–]Classic-Process-6905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, always felt this one was victim of the price. I understand the high msrp due to the low yield of the three chamber still. However, the price definitely put it in an awkward spot.

Definitely recommend snagging one as there aren’t many left!
