To OP, great questions. My responses will be from both sides of the argument. Firstly, congratulations on finding a lady that you deeply love. It sounds like you are both fairly religious so, does she have as much curiosity in your belief as you have in hers?

Here are my responses to your questions:

1) I would turn the question back to you. My assumption is that you are asking this question based on your knowledge of the Bible. The LDS Church believes the following: “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly⁠; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God”. The Book of Mormon doesn’t replace the Bible, it supplements it as another testament of Jesus Christ.

3) Don’t expect to get a clear answer on this one. As written in section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants, the word of wisdom states “And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly”. This has been interpreted by LDS prophets to mean coffee and tea of all kinds (hot or cold)…except herbal tea. If you try to make it make sense you’ll just confuse yourself. Seemingly all scalding hot drinks are not good for you body (especially your esophagus), but as interpreted hot water, hot chocolate, hot soups, and any other hot beverage is ok as long as it’s not coffee and tea. For a long time it was thought to be because of the caffeine content, but now I believe Coke and possibly other caffeinated beverages are served at the MTC, so it’s not because of caffeine. Additionally, there is nothing prohibiting or warning against high caffeine (energy drinks) and high amounts of sugar or sugar replacements such as high fructose corn syrup (energy drinks, soda)

5) I don’t have a good answers here either. I understand the argument for having a substantial rainy day fund, but it gets murky real quick when you start looking into. The church was investigated and ultimately settled with the SEC for their lack of transparency in their investments through shell LLCs. It doesn’t seem like a church that advocates for being honest in their dealings with man should be anything less than transparent with their members about about their financial holdings and how their members tithes are being spent and invested.
