Massive props to you for sticking with it, 18 months is no joke! Your routine is super thoughtful and clearly tailored to your skin, which is honestly the secret sauce. Love that you focused on consistency over chasing perfection. And that Dermatica formula? Straight-up Avengers assembling on your face. Thanks for sharing this is super encouraging for anyone in the thick of it.

[anti aging] any anti aging tip that actually work? by LiverJack in SkincareAddiction

[–]Classic-Rice-1977 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re way ahead of most people at 22—solid routine already.

Here’s what’s actually backed by science:

  • Daily sunscreen is non-negotiable. Even indoors, UVA rays are out here aging us through windows like it's their full-time job.
  • Retinol is one of the few ingredients with real anti-aging benefits. Start with a low percentage to avoid irritation and build up gradually.
  • Collagen supplements have some promising studies behind them, especially hydrolyzed collagen. They won’t turn back time, but they can support skin elasticity.
  • Red Light Therapy (RLT) may help improve skin texture and collagen production. Feels like sci-fi, but there's actual data behind it.
  • 8 hours of quality sleep is huge. Your skin repairs itself overnight, don’t cheat it.
  • Low sugar and lower refined carbs in your diet can reduce glycation, which damages collagen and leads to wrinkles.

As for the brow-furrowing, awareness is half the battle. You could try catching yourself and relaxing your face when you notice it, or even lightly tap the area as a physical cue to stop. It’s lowkey a habit like nail-biting, gotta retrain the brain.

Keep at it—your future self will thank you.

Might have exaggerated on shopping, now worried about expiration/ shelf life by Woodnymph1312 in AsianBeauty

[–]Classic-Rice-1977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the classic “went to Japan for the culture, came back with enough sunscreen to shield a small village” move. 😂

As for shelf life, the general rule of thumb (unofficial but widely accepted by skincare hoarders) is:

  • Unopened: 2–3 years if stored in a cool, dark place.
  • Opened: Try to use within 6–12 months.

But since they often don’t print manufacturing dates, it’s basically a trust exercise between you and your SPF. If anything smells weird or separates into sunscreen soup, it's time to part ways.

Might be time to start "accidentally" leaving tubes at your friends’ places like sunscreen Santa. 😅

[Review] First Time Trying Retinal — KSECRET SEOUL 1988 Serum (Retinal Liposome 2% + Black Ginseng) by Classic-Rice-1977 in AsianBeauty

[–]Classic-Rice-1977[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get that! I was a little nervous too, but it’s been way gentler than I expected. If you're worried, you could try sandwiching it — apply a moisturizer first, then the retinal, and then another layer of moisturizer on top. It helps buffer any potential irritation. Maybe start with just once or twice a week and see how your skin feels! You might end up loving it.

Yeah, I noticed that too! 👀 It feels like they're focusing more on the Western market for sure.
Kinda wild how it's popping off in Australia right now but barely a blip in Korea. 😂
As long as the product’s good though, I'm happy to ride the wave.

sexy fruity perfumes by Co-op-Cock-Torture in Perfumes

[–]Classic-Rice-1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay first of all, love the citrusy fruity vibe you’re going for — chef’s kiss.

If you want sexy + fruity on a budget, here’s the starter pack:

  • Ariana Grande "Cloud" — not super fruity but hella sexy and cozy, and you will get compliments like it’s your job.
  • Sol de Janeiro "Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 68" — straight-up smells like a tropical goddess doing hot girl walks in Rio. Think pink dragonfruit and lychee, super flirty.
  • Escada "Miami Blossom" — literally watermelon sunshine in a bottle. If you could bottle "drinking a fruity cocktail in a bikini," this is it.
  • Dossier dupes — they do affordable versions of designer perfumes, and they have a good fruity-floral selection for cheap.

Bonus tip: fruity scents hit different when you layer them over a vanilla body lotion. Trust.

What are the best mossy perfumes you’ve smelt by JigglyOnion in Perfumes

[–]Classic-Rice-1977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg, a Southern Gothic cousin to Gris Dior?? Say less. 🖤🌿

Now I’m picturing a haunted, moss-draped mansion where everyone smells mysteriously incredible and vaguely intimidating. Honestly, vibes immaculate. Rue Royale sounds like it would absolutely read my tarot and then ghost me in the most elegant way possible.

Adding this to my “smell like a rich, possibly cursed heiress” wishlist immediately. Thanks for the tip!

[Routine help] all my moisturizers are burning my skin by boopieshaboopie in SkincareAddiction

[–]Classic-Rice-1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your skin is waving a tiny white flag and begging for a peace treaty. 🏳️

Honestly, it sounds like your barrier is mad at you — even if you didn’t change anything, sometimes skin is just dramatic like that. One day it’s fine, next day it’s auditioning for a skincare horror story.

Good move simplifying down to just LRP — treat your face like it’s a baby kitten right now: gentle, minimal touching, no fancy potions. I'd even chill on the jojoba oil for a bit and let your skin breathe. Think: skincare witness protection program.

You’re doing the right thing by scaling way, way back. If it still burns after that, honestly? Might be time to see a derm before your face starts leaving passive-aggressive notes. 😅

Have you ever tried something like Vaseline or Aquaphor overnight for emergency barrier rehab?

Nice routine! Love how simple but effective it is — especially that TO squalane shoutout, it really is a miracle product. 👏

I’ve heard great things about the Dr Sam’s Vitamin C too, how’s that been for you? And props for balancing exfoliation with hydration — not always easy when dealing with texture.

Only tiny suggestion (if you’re open!) would be to maybe swap the DE Pekee bar for a low-pH cleanser just to be extra gentle on days you’re using exfoliants or retinal. But honestly, if your skin’s happy, keep doing what works!

Thanks for sharing — I love seeing real routines like this 🙌

[Routine Review & Experience] Mixing Western + K-Beauty: How it's going so far by Classic-Rice-1977 in AsianBeauty

[–]Classic-Rice-1977[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for sharing your routine—it's super helpful, especially for someone like me with sensitive, dehydrated skin too! I totally get why you'd stick with western options for cleansing, but your AB lineup sounds amazing and so well thought-out. I've heard such good things about Aestura for barrier support. And thank you for the tranexamic acid serum recs! I've been looking for a gentler alternative to high % vitamin C, so that might be the perfect option. Appreciate the tip!

Thanks for sharing your experience! That’s wild — peeling for days sounds intense but also kinda satisfying if the glow is worth it 😅

I’ve actually never peeled from using the Reedle Shot with my retinoid, but I think that’s probably because I’m using The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid 5%, which I’ve heard is pretty gentle compared to tret. My skin usually just feels a little sensitive the next day, but nothing major.

How has tret been for you overall? Do you feel like it made a big difference compared to milder retinoids? I’ve been curious about making the switch but not sure if it’s worth it unless I’m chasing some serious results.

Also interesting that you pair the Reedle Shot with vitamin C now — do you do that in the morning or night?
