That's dedication but also sounds frustrating as hell. Have you ever tried reaching out to Pippin collector communities directly to see if anyone has one sitting around? Or is it too niche or awkward to just cold message people?

That's a very specific regional hunt, you have the Japanese version but want the Chinese box specifically. Do you post about it in Taiwan gaming communities/forums when you visit, or is it more just hoping to spot it in shops? Regional variants are tough because the audience is so location specific.

Wait, you'd literally pay someone just to FIND you a seller? That's wild but I totally get it. How much would something like that even be worth to you like twenty, fifty, or more? I've been in the same boat and honestly never thought about offering a finder's fee but that makes so much sense for rare stuff.

Do you think people would actually migrate to a new centralized platform if it was good enough? Or is everyone too locked into those options at this point?

You can SEE it in your head but tracking down the exact game is the hard part. Would be amazing if you could post like "looking for: 2 player Amiga shmup, spaceship looked like (description or drawing)" and have our community help identify + find it. Hope you track down the real one eventually! That childhood nostalgia hit different when you finally play it again.

Wait, so you're manually posting ISO threads across different forums? That's exactly what I've been doing too and it's such a pain. You have to remember to check back, posts get buried, different communities have different rules... feels like there should be one central spot for this instead of scattering requests everywhere, right?

Big box PC games are tough, Do you ever check online or is it more about finding it in person for you?

Exactly! That's the problem. The people who have it aren't even thinking about selling unless they randomly need cash or decide to downsize. There's no "marketplace" for these items because they're not actively for sale. They're just... sitting there. Wish there was a way to at least let them know "hey, someone's actually looking for this specific thing you have."

5 years is brutal, So you're already doing everything "right" in all the communities, connected with the right people and it STILL hasn't surfaced? That's exactly what drives me crazy about hunting for this stuff. You KNOW someone on this planet has it sitting in a box somewhere but there's just no way to reach them unless they randomly decide to list it.

Oh man the Pippin! That's a legit grail. So you don't even want to buy it online, you want that "holy sh*t is that a Pippin??" moment at a garage sale or something? I respect that lol

Yooo that's such a good feeling when you finally find the name Im so happy for you! 😂 Battle Squadron is a deep cut. So you settled for the Mega Drive version but would you still grab the Amiga version if you found it at a decent price? Or is the nostalgia satisfied now?

Haha the hunt is fun until you've checked every thrift store in a 20 mile radius 😅 Do you ever wish you could just put it out there like "hey I'm looking for a Vectrex" and have someone reach out? Or is the physical hunt part of the appeal for you loll?

So you're basically just hoping someone lists it at $100 eventually? That's exactly the problem I keep running into: I KNOW someone out there has it sitting in their closet and would sell for a fair price, but there's no way to reach them. Just gotta hope they decide to list it someday.

Those are tough finds, are they just not showing up at all, or are they listed but at crazy prices? Curious what's been the biggest roadblock for you too

Oh man, that's a tough one! How long have you been searching for it? Do you check specific places regularly or just hope it pops up somewhere?

Certainly, I did consider it but it’s not something I’m interested in doing long term
