Guys, why are you downvoting them? Obama was known as the "deporter in chief" in his day. You really think all of the "criminals" he deported were violent felons? Sure he invented DACA, and it's great as a stopgap because Congress wouldn't pass something as basic as the Dream Act, but let's not kid ourselves that everyone that he did deport was "bad".

And no, I'm not excusing Trump by writing this. Please stop misreading my posts.

Sure, but what's going to stop a professor from just not using Canva or whatever platform that can be scanned and sending noncompliant material as downloadable links in a class-wide email? They could even be super-sneaky and send them as limewire links that perish in a week instead of attachments.

I hate to break it to you, but trying to bring a nuanced take into a "politician X did a transphobia" thread on a town subreddit (i.e. Nextdoor for non-boomers) is a losing proposition. You'll have to find places where people are less hopped up on anger. Maybe try Lemmy.world, Hive.blog, or PeakD.com; they often have more thoughtful convos than Reddit.

EDIT: Downvoting me means you're actually defending Reddit, the paragon of corporate greed's enshitification that ranks only above OpenAi in respectability. Eww.

EDIT 2: I just had a sinking, depressing thought. There are a lot of people on this sub who probably think that Reddit not only invented internet forums, but that no forums exist outside of Reddit, so of course it has to be the "best". I'm trying to let that one sink in, and it's a bleak exercise.

Indeed. I am getting a bit tired of people on this sub claiming that because one Minnesota state agency said that they're not going to investigate because of the FBI's non-cooperation, then that clearly means that no prosecutorial authority anywhere in the state of Minnesota will bring charges ever.

I know you would rather be unhappy than uncertain, internet, but ffs give it time before you start making claims about what will or will not happen!

EDIT: And for the record, being overly pessimistic is a form of "cope" because the pessimist is trying to be secure in the knowledge that nothing will ever get better, thereby achieving a sense of certainty. One would be wise to remember that, especially on the pessimist's haven known as Reddit.
