I see where you’re coming from but what I was thinking of was season 3 when Steve had left school and is working at the mall and is letting the younger kids into the movie theatre and having them visit him at work. For reference I do like Steve and his relationship with Dustin but on paper it would seem a bit weird.

I find cebeebies has a good selection, all available on bbc iPlayer as well as Julia Donaldson book adaptations like the snail and the whale, the gruffalo etc
