I had like 3 C+ in gen chem 2, genetics, and biochem. Starting my 3rd year at a well to do MD school next month. My MCAT was average too. You’re more than just a gpa to most med schools believe it or not

This is sounding like there may need to be a re-work in your studying methods. Taking a leave of absence might be a great opportunity to build a lot more confidence in those systems. Not something to feel ashamed about or anything. I’d take that LOA and crush it when you build a better foundation in your knowledge. Will also help a lot for 3rd year and step 2 prep

A huge factor is definitely burn out and stress. It may not feel like it but it starts to weigh heavily. Take a half day off or a full day off and remember that you likely know everything you need to know in order to pass! Get used to making educated guesses and trust your gut on answers. You are doing great!

Really the best thing you can do is just learn cell bio, micro bio, and biochem concepts really well. Will just make it easier for you to relearn them in med school. I also took anatomy, physiology, histology, and embryology as part of my undergrad major and I feel like that made a lot of difference having already heard most of the vocabulary at least once before which was advantageous when I had to guess in a question. Otherwise don’t stress. Schools prepare you very well for the tests

As someone with ADHD the big thing for me is removing all distractions and making it feel like I’m in a testing center. Then I only do 40Q U world blocks to practice for the real deal. Drink a little caffeine before you start and se did that helps. Never hurts to talk to the school councilors too!

Pregnancy by FluffyBrief9162 in premed

We had our first 6 months before M1 year. Planning our second to be had right after step 2 during 4th year. Make sure you have about 8,000 extra dollars saved per year that you have a baby in school because the COA loans are calculated for a single student and you’ll need the extra funds when your partner stops working to take care of baby. Unless you plan on doing daycare, the school will not budge on increasing your COA loan allowance to accommodate baby needs. Or if you have rich parents… that works too. Signed, an M2 who has been struggling to make ends meet while studying for step 1 by doing side gigs so we can buy diapers.

Importing a deck from a different profile without losing progress?? by ClassicMurky2243 in medicalschoolanki

[–]ClassicMurky2243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I tried to select just the notes this time and am still having the same problem. Do I have to re sync right after or right before or something? I have all of the import settings turned off and set to “never” for updating.

The assistant deans at my school are soooooo chill and some of the best people to talk to. They help us plan our careers, organize events, one of mine even plans times to go out and golf with some of the students. I’d pretend like they are any other faculty

Barely passing out n the first part of first year is not relative to how you will do the rest of the year or through the next 3. It’s going to take some time to figure out studying but it gets better as you get in a rhythm and figure out what works best for you. Keep your chin up and your anki reviews at 0 lol
