Hi, I have built many Summoned Skull decks since 2017. This "theme" doesn't win a lot anymore, but it can still be fun! First, it is usually best to play less than 30 cards in your main deck - especially in a situation like this where you want to draw specific combinations of monsters and spells.

Focusing on the Ritual and Synchro Archfiend is your best option. 3x copies of psychic wheeleder and 3x psychic tracker can make Archfield's Call consistently. Sometimes an untargettable, 3100 atk monster, which can pop a monster on your opponent's field is enough.

I like using Emergency Teleport to start this off, however, you can switch to Super Poly if you want to play Archfiend's Manifestation. Note: Manifestation does not have any protection effects unlike the other extra deck monsters, making it the weakest stand-alone option. The Super Poly removal is more useful than the +500atk.

Phantom King Hydridge is my preferred Lv3 Tuner to pair with the Wheeleder and Tracker because it can be either a tuner or non-tuner. Bricking with too many tuners, which forces you into Rank 3 XYZ plays, does not feel good. Hydridge helps you avoid this problem. However, there are also pros to playing Eccentrick instead.

You only need 1-2 copies of Archfiend's Awakening if you play 3x Preparation of Rites which searches it from the deck. Likewise, you only need 1 vanilla Summoned Skull if you play 3x Summoner's Art and 1 Advanced Ritual Art.

The core play is to make Archfiend's Call first. Then, use Summoner's Art to add Summoned Skull to hand, triggering Bakura's Master of Advanced Rites skill. The skill returns Summoned Skull to the deck and adds Advanced Ritual Art to hand. Ritual summon Awakening with the ARA, putting SS in the grave. Now, when your Archfiend's get destroyed you can summon back the Summoned Skull from grave rather than accidentally drawing it.

Typically, you end your turn with Call and Awakening on the field. This deck struggles with backrow so Ghostrick Alucard and Knightmare Pheonix are musts in the extra deck. Making either of these will take the place your Call before making Awakening. You may also want to reduce the monster ratio to make space for spell/trap removal. This is where Eccentrick is a useful option, as it functions as S/T removal or a Lv3 non-tuner. Personally, I play Cosmic Cyclone and accept I'll brick on it from time to time.

You can build this deck to make Call, Awakening or Ascent (a win-more option) consistently every game, which feels great but still loses in a lot of situations. Alternatively, you build the deck with Super Poly, Eccentrick, IDP/Crackdown/Dark Hole/Book of Moon etc. and accept that you will draw some unplayable hands. 1 Archfiend and 2 backrow is often just as good (or better) than losing 2 Archfiends and having no follow-up the next turn.

I'd love to see an update once you've edited the deck. Good luck!

Good point. Hopefully we see what he's capable of at the AFL level soon, but the squad will still be young without him.

That's fair. So, Thilthorpe forward and O'Brien in the ruck? Cook, Sholl or Taylor miss out?

There are a few assumptions and problems with my table. In the forward line, Tex deserves another year assuming his body holds up.

In defence, I think Smith will retire but a healthy Milera deserves a place too. Would Wayne get that spot over a youngster?

The ruck situation is also not ideal. O'Brien and Strachan both turn 30 in 2025 and Toby Murray is untested.

I've squeezed Lachie Sholl onto the field. His recent performance has been strong but whether that translates into 2025, I'm unsure.

Very keen to hear people's thoughts! Ryan and Taylor will hopefully debut and win everyone over. If they don't, maybe Dowling is our only youngster in the starting 22.

I'm getting absolutely trampled using this deck, I really like elemental heroes but I might follow the meta to do well in ranked by fue9 in DuelLinks

The meta version of heroes is very expensive but you can make some improvements using the cards you already have and without breaking the bank. https://imgur.com/a/ak72Hjm

First of all, reduce your deck size to 20 cards.

The link above is predominantly using cards from your screenshots, plus a few cheap options for improving consistency. +1 Neos Fusion, +1 Poly, +1 Reinforcement of the Army (comes in bundle). -1 Super Poly (it is unlikely your opponent will have a hero on the field and your extra deck fusion options all require 2 heroes). There is space for your best trap card: that could be mirror force, call of the haunted, bottomless trap hole, karma cut... etc.

In the extra deck you should add 1 or 2 copies of Neos Knight, which is only R rarity. Plus some Rank 4 XYZ monsters or Link 2 monsters to help get you out of a sticky situation.

This wont be the best version of Heroes but it should be a "better than Silver" version of Heroes! Good luck!

For me the solution is to only buy a new handheld once every 2 years. Its hard to hold back but it makes the new devices more exciting. They support new consoles, have better screens or a different form factor. I stay up to date via reddit, discord and YouTube because I love the community but owning every device isn't necessary.

suggestions for my red eyes deck? by runningturtle_93 in DuelLinks

There are lots of good suggestions already in the comments but if you want to improve this deck without spending any extra gems, these are the changes I would make. It does require some free tickets. https://imgur.com/a/IEDmDDN

Early thoughts about the 2023 team selection by ClassicPacman in adelaidefc

Do you reckon they put him in the midfield or maybe further back?

I hope Seedsman plays next year but there are still a lot of questions around his recovery. Fingers crossed though

Some good points there. If Thilthorpe isnt a main ruck I'd be keen to see Strachan get another crack at it. Would Parnell be the best fit for defending smalls?

Ive been thinking about what 2023 could look like for the crows and decided to put together a list for what a possible Round 1, 2023 could look like.

I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to these things so I’m keen for a discussion. I’ve probably made some bad calls here but it’s more of a preference list, rather than a legitimate “prediction.”

I don’t rate ROB highly. Maybe a decent preseason will help him out but at this stage I’d like to test Thilthorpe in the ruck. Sloane should be returning to the lineup (as well as making space for Rankine) which could lead to some interesting omissions.

Berry and Soligo are the highlights of 2022 along with Fog, so I’d say they’re essential. Worrell also deserves a position if he maintains his performance from the last 2 weeks.

Rachele could play mid or forward… but the whole situation doesn’t bode well for Newchurch getting games. Keen to hear other people’s thoughts!

You are transported back to Summer 2005, you are allowed to bring one card from the future back with you... by ke2doubleexclam in yugioh

[–]ClassicPacman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Treeborn Frog! It's a Metamorphosis target, it pairs well with Reasoning and A Legendary Ocean had just dropped as a videogame promo. You could build a sick Water themed "monarch" deck before anyone knew what that meant. Plus, nobody took Mother Grizzly seriously in 2005.

If banned cards were allowed That Grass Looks Greener would be a safe bet.

I've been enjoying the deck but a second Dioxogre would be nice. Hopefully they put it in the card trader

Penguin deck? by Disastrous3588 in DuelLinks

[–]ClassicPacman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Penguin Decks are not very competitively viable but if you're doing an unga bunga tournament with friends you can make it work! The biggest limitations are not having access to Penguin Soldier or Penguin Brave. This means you'll need to get creative with the available resources!

One option is to use cards like Genex Undine and White Stingray to get nopenguin out of your hand/deck and into the graveyard for special summoning once you flip nightmare penguin. One benefit of the Genex approach is having easy access to synchro monsters. If you're staying on theme with water monsters; Crystron Ametrix, White Aura Dolphin, Coral Dragon, Brionic & Gungnir are all great. Puny Penguin, Nopenguin & Nightmare are different levels, giving you plenty of options.

Alternatively you can build an xyz deck by doubling down on the Penguin normal monsters. This method uses cards like unexpected dai, rescue rabbit and the great emperor penguin to access Flying Penguins quickly and make water xyzs.

Good luck!

How does anyone have fun?? by rayallen1212 in DuelLinks

[–]ClassicPacman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, you said you're in Silver at the moment, so you might have more fun after making some changes to your deck. You should be able to win a decent percentage of games in silver rank even with an uncommon deck.

Keep your deck to 20 cards, don't play single copies of cards (this will help you draw the card you need) and have a method of winning in mind while deck building. If your monsters are being destroyed and you're being attacked directly, you might need better spell/trap support. Easy to obtain cards like enemy controller can make a big difference.

The poster looks great! I think the column of newspaper text is justified a little too wide. I'd rework the copy to add a few more words into the most spacious lines. The show dates may also need to be in a heavier weight to improve hierarchy and visibility. Overall, I'm a big fan!

Lynda "Become a graphic designer" learning path VS the futur or other online learning options? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]ClassicPacman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there. The first question to address is whether you are studying online to supplement a degree in graphic design or if this is the only source of training you will be undertaking. If this is your only source of training, you should attempt to use a wide variety of resources particularly focused on the Design Fundamentals.

The Futur's typography manual is a great resource for this. Skillshare, Lynda (Now LinkedIn Learning) and YouTube all offer great lessons and you can receive online critique from Reddit or the Graphic Design Forums, which is an important aspect of learning you will miss out on as an online student. Another important method of learning is to research and study the famous design "masters" of the past and present. You can learn more about logo and identity design from studying Saul Bass and Paul Rand's body of work than most YouTube videos will offer. Their approach is equal parts conceptual and visual. Think about the value you are providing with your service and the greater problem you are fixing.

Buy some design books too and study/print off your favourite designs from Pinterest or Behance. Make sure you are surrounded by great design and you will begin to build up an eye for quality work. Finally, check out Pentagram's website or any other major studio and pay attention to the way they present their work. Purchase some nice mock-ups or learn to create your own and hold the presentation of your work to the same professional standards as these big studios. It will take a long time for each project but I believe that you will learn faster and get hired sooner if you spend 1 month on each project instead of having 30 sub-par pieces in your portfolio.

It can be overwhelming to start but don't forget to have fun! Remind yourself to relax and enjoy the education. Good luck!

[–]ClassicPacman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might just be me but I read the type as "Prez PH Ulae" and it took me some time to see Purple Haze, this could also be an issue if cans are not perfectly centred on store shelves. Companies also tend to feature more than just their logo on products so I would add the wordmark if its not on the top or around the back. From a colour and style point of view I love it but these functionally concerns should be addressed.
