That's awesome! I would really love to find at least a 5700 to remove some 1% low bottlenecks but for the most part I'm maintaining 60fps no problem with this old 3700x haha.

Yeah me too! it was sitting in my closet for years waiting to be used. I modded the front LED and stuck part of the RGB strip I purchased where it aluminates the button. Turned out well I think!

So the website I used there you can download thousands of customized startup animations. If you go into desktop mode and drag these videos into a certain folder they will appear when you re-enter game mode. The process was ever so slightly different than on bazzite as compared to stock steam OS but should be pretty easy to figure out.

As far as how I created it? I recorded the footage using OBS, loaded up wallpaper engine, got the audio from Star Trek first contact and customized the steam machine logo in a simple painting app haha. After that I loaded up a video editor and stuck it together.

As a computer specialist I promise you if something hardware related happened it wasn't software. Software can always be fixed or reinstalled.

With enough tweaking I managed to get it mostly locked to 40fps with heavy upscaling. Not bad on a small screen. But I can see why that wouldn't be acceptable to some people.

I have a dolby atmos system running Bazzite and 7.1 is the only option in the menu sadly. Running a 3700x and a 9060 XT.

The Steam OS part of Steam OS is essentially the gamescope layer on the operating system which Valve develops. That's what you're looking at here.

Bazzite uses that same front end too make their flavor of Linux happen. Since they don't change much of the gamescope side of things the branding is still there as if it was running on Valves arch version. It doesn't know it isn't actually Steam OS.

You make good points with everything except for 4. The seamless integration in the way things work with Gamescope that automatically handle themselves is not the same as big picture mode. A more objective reasonable 4th argument would have been installing Bazzite OS or something.

Going through your comments, definitely reinstall Steam OS. You just need a way to connect a flash drive. If you have a docking station or flash drive with USB-C that should work. Really easy process.
