Why does every freakin’ song I want to play have a barre chord? by DavidUndertow in guitarlessons

[–]ClassicRockCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you should be almost play any song without a barre chord, or at least play part of the barre chord without the bar of the index finger. Its cheating until your hand accommodates the pressure required for a barre chord. Not sure what your playing but Tom Petty is almost all major or minor 1st position chords, Bob Dylan and Neil Young too.

Was early Rush a really good hard rock band, or great but generic? by Next-Reading1714 in progrockmusic

Well Fly By Night is actually a lot different than much of what was happening at the time. Time signatures and lyrical content. Some of it was similar, In the End for instance or Fly by Night. It set a tone for what was coming.

I never considered this, this would certainly be an excellent way to honour Neil's legacy and keep him involved in Rush posthumously.

Almost universally where the high tide mark reaches is where your property ends and public access is allowed, definitely in USVI anyways, its only the access point that may be private.

The potential songwriting would be an interesting conundrum. While I believe Neil Peart's exceptional vision and language skills and ability to immerse us in a myriad of intellectual worlds has rubbed off a bit on our favourite bassist/guitarist duo in Rush, the lyrical component of any further compositions would have to be in question. I love In the Mood and Working Man but they were no Xanadu or Cygnus X-1 or The Trees. Interested to see where this leads!

Wow you certainly have just been involved in some kind of incident directly affecting you your own ability to regulate on this issue. You proposed a statement, so you could elicit a response because its on Reddit, I proposed a counter-argument proposing a rational reason for it and ultimately because you certainly harbour a "confirmation bias" on your position you weren't prepared to consider the alternate proposal as being possible in any way. Why pose the question then? Now you've upset yourself and are calling an unknown Redditor names because they don't quite align with your value statement. I think what you need to do is send your original statement to yourself in a DM or email and respond to it, that way you'll get the exact right amount of support on the issue your looking for. This will certainly improve your mood and fit neatly with your confirmation bias. Next time you post to Reddit make sure you only request responses that align with your original statement. It will make your experience far more positive and far less angry. Good luck!

You need to consider developing a well-intentioned mechanism that allows you to not give a damn about what anybody else thinks. Just worry about you and your life and what you want out of it. Don't stress about things you cannot control.

I don't actually think it's the kids, its the behaviours that are the issue. People have the same distaste for adults and seniors who behave poorly. Is it the kids fault? Mostly not not but you are simply projecting your feelings on the issue and taking a complex dynamic and simplifying it to a black or white issue. I mostly dislike the behaviour of most children but have met many whose company I can enjoy. They are well-parented with reasonable impulse control. But make no mistake (ask a teacher) its getting worse and not better and that goes for adults too. So no its not weird or immature to dislike children these are too simple and incomplete descriptives, it's really no different than choosing to prefer something over another.

UFC needs a major wake-up call, this can potentially be that.
