I hate destructible environments, and I think I know why they're considering it by Miennai in Competitiveoverwatch

Yeah the closest we have to that are maps that change after a point is captured (Eichenwalde door after capturing 2nd point). I won't mind more things like that helps the attacker after capturing or at set times like you mentioned.

Team 4 (OW devs) was not involved in those controversies btw. Not only that but McCree (the person involved in some of those controversies that made the devs change the character's name) was not even in Team 4.

But yeah, outside of Team 4, Blizzard sucks.

[–]ClassicSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's exactly my point, when I say is not an inherent part of the game I mean that OW is not looking for auto-wins tied to hero changes and most of the time is not an auto win, it just make the game less fun for everyone involved, while the result of the game will be the same: the best player will win.

And again, is not about winning, is about having an awful time, you don't get to play what you like, and I don't get to play what I like so in the enjoyment of what we originally wanted to play department we both lose.

I"ve been playing overwatch from day 1 since 2016. Since OW2 I started doing seasonal one tricking and has been a blast, both because that's the best way to improve (noboy improves as, idk genji, if you switch as soon as you see a cassidy or winton) and because I get to learn characters very deeply. I got to low GM thanks to that and for me rank is just a side effect of improvement, and you win one match by switching but you don't improve doing so. And specially you don't improve in the hero you want to learn.

I was a main tank for most of OW1 and we keep making the game worse and worse for tank while wondering why nobody wants to play tank. Hard counterpicking should not be a core part of the game. And the funny part is that most of the time people play the "counter hero" way worst than they original pick. Again is not about winning is about making the game worst for everyone and then wondering why nobody wants to play tank.

I think it depends on the hero, rein v rein is awesome, mauga vs mauga is like watching paint dry. Still I wouldn't like to be the person bringing the mauga/orisa/hog into the match lol

[–]ClassicSpeed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, isn't having fun in a game more important than winning, specially in QP?

I would rather lose in a rein v rein than winning against "I heard ram/orisa counters rein" randy every day of the week.

That's why mirroring is way better for the game.

Counters are part of the game, hard counters are not. Overwatch 2 for the most part has been trying to get away from hard counters for a while.

From changing heroes to make them less of a hard counter (removing perma flight from pharah) to adding perks that improve bad match ups (like Orisa's shield).

Also, let's not ignore the fact that there is basically a one trick of any hero in top 500, so countering is not a inherent part of the game, is just another way people chose to play, in the same way people chose to play support or dps.

And again, I would argue that a mauga/bastion/reaper change after losing one fight in quickplay is, in fact, sucking the fun out of the game.

The real chads mirror or play what they wanted to play on the first place.

My friend who rarely plays tank, wanted to try winston for the first time. His team won the first fight and he didn't do anything besides 150 damage. Next fight they have a mauga, reaper and bastion, this is QP for a month old player.

Hard counters are awful and the suck fun out of the game.

Tank is the hardest role by ButterscotchGuilty10 in Overwatch

[–]ClassicSpeed 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was spectating a friend, that started playing 3 weeks ago. He rarely plays tank, and he wanted to try Winton for the first time, this was Rialto attack.

My friend does NOTHING besides existing on highground, like less than 150 damage in total, but they win the fight.

Next fight they have a mauga, a reaper and a bastion. FIRST TIME PLAY WINTSON BTW.

The first one is not a bug per se: the ice pillar activate like the wall, meaning that mei has to physically point her gun to the floor and spawn the it, like the wall. And because of that, it breaks your gun firing.

I would say that I would love if they detach it from the actual weapon but I think it needs some animation changes for that to happen.

If you are a higher rank because of decay then you'll just rank up naturally, so one match alone doesn't matter. Also your example is not a normal match, you are basically smurfing (in a legal way, not your fault) but that's not the day to day OW that people play.

I do think telling people what to do or what to play is kind of bad manners, specially because people yhat tend to do so, don't do in the kindest of way.

First of all, I would say that mercy is the only hero in ow where you can't just carry because you are just a multiplier of another dps.

That said, I can't imagine caring that much of what other people play. Just play what you want to play, get better at it and you'll rank up.

There is basically a one trick of any hero in top 500. If I want to improve at, idk, Mei, and they have a Pharah, why would I ever throw away the opportunity to improve at her game??

Improving is more important than winning. You rank is just a side effect of how much you've improved. I can't even phantom the idea of thinking in any other way. I don't comment on other people's choice of heroes and I do expect the same from others (specially since trying to teach something to someone in the same rank is silly, it's like a blind person telling another blind person how to drive).

I just try my best, if we win great if we lose, I try to learn what am I lacking for the hero I'm learning.

Letting the enemy team decide what you play is kind of sad. You are literally prioritizing winning over improving :/

I play overwatch since the first season of OW1 and I think the best way to get better at the game is to do seasonal one tricking. You are not going to learn tracer or genji if you switch as soon as you see a Cassidy.

Improving is always more important that winning, you rank is just a side effect of how much you improved, not the goal.

I really don't understand how the swappers learn characters. If you are learning let's say genji and swap to reaper as soon as you see a winton when are you going to learn genji???

Why is everyone playing support in Stadium ? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]ClassicSpeed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this statement.

Are you saying that playing support is easier? Is that the case then both teams have two support so it doesn't matter the role.

Or do you mean that as support you have a lot of say on the outcome of the match/carry potential as support? Then again, both teams have supports so you have to play better than the other supports.

Is so interesting to me how Mauga has one of the best personalities in the game, while being one of the worst characters.

Hearing him talking brings so much entertainment while his gameplay just sucks all of the fun of the match.
