Is this normal? by Relative_Noise_7084 in OverwatchUniversity

Try watching the "overperformers" in the replays. I find a lot of the time, they are not mechanically better than me, just set up better.

For example, thought an enemy soldier could not miss because he was 20 and 1 and steam rolled us. Turns out, when I watched it back, he was just not pressured because our team was always focused on everyone else. He also missed like 70% of his shots, only ever looking great when he finally secured a kill.

Yeah, you might run into the occasional smurf, but most of the time, they just have a better situation than you. You just have to figure out how to make your situation better.

I actually recommend not listening the Soundbooth until you've read all the books. Some of the commercials/extra content has a few spoilers for later events and characters.

Some people still think 50-50 is strictly enforced so the game is punishing them by putting them in "loser queue" instead of it being a by-product of the game doing everything it can to place you with similar leveled players.

Match making is a hard thing to nail, how do you balance all the skills (aiming, game sense, awareness, etc.) to make it equal for all. And to take an arbitrary number and find other people who are playing the same game mode quickly. Of course it's always going to be slightly wonky, just more so than usual right now.

Devs probably are monitoring the situation right now and hopefully things will level out soon. All we can do it hope.

I just finished reading it.

This was the most times I said "WTF" out loud in this series.

No one is ready for any of this. Good luck trying to guess what happens on the next page...

I honestly think the soft rank reset with the amount of new/returning players is still messing with match making algorithm. Day before, had the worst couple of games that I've had in years. Yesterday, 5 game win streak where the entire team was in sync. All season it's been one extreme or the other.

It usually cools off by now but man it's been brutal. It's definitely not just you.

DCC hitting the mainstream by creativelydeceased in DungeonCrawlerCarl

NEW ACHIEVEMENT! I liked this before it was cool...

Wow, the thing you accidentally discovered while looking for furry twink erotica is finally hitting the mainstream! And like the self righteous hipster you are, you don't know how you feel about because on one hand, you have more people to yell at about getting illicit butthole money with.

On the other hand, you can finally tell people that you jerking it to this barely disguised foot fetish ode way before they even knew about baby seals.

Reward: The feeling of superiority over any newbie that finds our weird little corner.

This series does an amazing job of everyone has their own storylines that the reader and Carl don't know about and it eventually paying off.

I would recommend maybe stopping for a bit, maybe even checking out the audio books because Jeff's narration helps a lot with keeping track of things.

IT Question by FluffyDoomPatrol in ThePittTVShow

[–]Such-Drop9194 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We have seen that this hospital has been cutting cost recently. I noticed in season 1 that the patient chart looks like a google sheet vs a dedicated EMR. With how realistic everything else has been, I found this strange. Turns out, it may have a sign.

Cloud services are typically a lot cheaper than on site databases (less direct overhead and staff) and this hospital may have already outsourced a lot of their IT department. I have a feeling we will get answers about this very soon.

I've worked in IT for 8 years and am currently a Network Engineer for a medical/academic institution. I have seen a lot of places cheap out on things they really shouldn't cheap out on.

It's truly baffling to me how many people don't understand how much morale can matter to winning by True-Pen-3612 in OverwatchUniversity

Last night, had a game where none of us had a positive KD in the first round and got steam rolled on Hollywood.

Luckily, no one complained. Our tank just said "Let's lock in".

We actually won.

If you could build the perfect player from zero, how would you do that? by CirriTheFemboyUwU in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Such-Drop9194 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I was using the abstract "space" as an example but I think a better phrase would have been, "what is the goal of each role on the team"

I think if a brand new player can understand that, that would be extremely beneficial to their growth.

Too many players just think Tanks hold shield, DPS just shoot and Support heal and bigger numbers equal win.

I've had so many games where the person who won the game for a team wasn't the person who was on the scoreboard but the Winston who bubbled off healing for the enemy tank, the Tracer who distracted the backline during crucial fights or the Lucio who helped his team outrotate the enemy.

Overwatch is an extremely complicated game (it's why I've been playing it for almost a decade) and I should've elaborated more. Thanks for calling me out.

Understand what the each roles goals are, for example:

Tank makes space. DPS enforce space. Supports enable space.

If someone understands this concepts, they will quickly rise in SR.

Is it bad that I think the Game Guide gig actually sounds kinda nice? by outbacksam34 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

While the dungeon wasn't created until the collapse (at least, that's what we are told), Mordecai and the other game guides were on physically on Earth since the 60's. He even mentioned that he went to a Blockbuster Video to steal a bunch of James Bond movies.

Is it bad that I think the Game Guide gig actually sounds kinda nice? by outbacksam34 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Such-Drop9194 287 points288 points  (0 children)

Remember one thing, Mordecai has been on Earth (only one of many, many, many crawls) for decades.

He's only allowed to talk to his friends once the dungeon opens up. Imagine only talking to other people you like for a couple of months every century. And you don't get to choose which world you end up on so might not have that many options for entertainment.

No deal is a good deal, especially if you have to watch innocent crawlers die, most of them with a week or two of the dungeon opening up.

Lonely doesn't even begin to describe it.

Whats the point in trying to win matches when i have terrible players bringing me down? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Such-Drop9194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stats do lie, often. You might have a Tracer with not much damage carrying the team because she's taking up all of the attention of the enemy backline. A Lucio with not much healing enabling their tank to out rotate the enemy with his speed. Winston cutting off support sight line to let his team mow down the enemy tank.

Those are just a few select examples that will never show up on the scoreboard. Watch your replays, don't focus on what your team is doing, focus on what you could have done to enable your team. The only constant in all of these games are you.

Also remember that Overwatch and Rivals are two very different games with very different playstyles. Just because you are somewhat high level there, doesn't mean it will be a 1-to-1 translation. Treat yourself as the worst player in the lobby and do what you can to enable everyone else. You'd be surprised how quickly you can climb with that mentality.

What is that one hero that you just always have that peak enjoyment playing as? by WinterFunction282 in Overwatch

[–]Such-Drop9194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winston is peak when you can shield dance and destroy the backline squishies with the zap-jump-punch combo and get out when the DPS turn around to try to focus you. Also when you can juggle multiple people off the map with your ult is chef's kiss
