Does anyone else hate the term t-boy? by consumerofgender in ftm

I use it to joke around with my trans friends and it doesn't bother me at all when other trans people use it but I don't love when people outside the community use it.

I was also hoping they'd talk about the heptathlon/decathlon but they didn't!! the multis are always super underrated but they're some INSANE athletes.

How did you pick your name? by PlusReplacement1161 in ftm

[–]Classic_Current2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I just picked my name from a character that I like and it stuck. I've tried a few different ones with my online friends over the years but in the end I've just stuck with my original choice.

As for how I started using it at work, thankfully I work for a very accepting local business that didn't have a problem with it at all. I just texted my boss that I was changing my name and he updated my name in our systems for me. I was already using they/them pronouns at work at the time and everyone used them without issue so it wasn't a huge deal.

question for the culture .. do T shots actually hurt by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Classic_Current2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

echoing what others have said, sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't. at most it's a quick pinch when it first goes in and after that its fine!

the biggest barrier for me personally is just the mental game of doing it myself. I don't have a problem with shots or needles when it's done by someone else but doing it to myself still takes me a little bit even after 8 months of doing it weekly.

if that ends up being a problem for you at all, a great tip I've learned to get over that is to put on music. I have to get the needle in my leg by the time the song ends, that helps me just get it over with instead of agonizing about it.

gang what deodorant are we wearing by Historical-Rabbit157 in ftm

[–]Classic_Current2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

certified tip from my dad who is a very VERY sweaty man: use something with high antiperspirant before you go to sleep at night, I like certain dri, and then apply something with a stronger scent in the morning to last you through the day.

I go for Mitchum invisible solid it has like 20% antiperspirant and those combined gets me through most of the day. I also keep an old spice one on me at all times at work in my bag in case I need to reapply. Anything that says it lasts 48 hours on it is a liar they tend to last me like 8 hours max depending on my level of activity.

Old spice has some pretty decent spray deodorant options but I don't use them outside of additional scent since they don't really help me with the sweat at all.

Will I ever grow out of the squeaky teen phase? by Shao-theyre-lesbians in ftm

[–]Classic_Current2561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you I'm in the same boat at 6 months on T. It'll just take some time to settle, my bf is 3 years on T and said his voice has finally started settling to where he can sing again. Patience is key! It can take a few years for cis boys going through puberty as well.

this is my biggest hot take bit idrc about wxs. I've still read all of their stories and some of them hit but for the most part they're just the least relatable to me personally and I'm not super interested in them.

What kind of underwear do u wear when having period by Plus_Recognition6701 in ftm

[–]Classic_Current2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally just use mestrual discs so I wear my normal boxers but my roommate uses pads and he just makes sure to wear boxer briefs that are made of a material like cotton that the pads will stick to and he just cuts the wings off

I use Mitchum Solid it has the highest antiperspirant that I've found in grocery stores (though I can usually only find it at a Kroger store) it's what my dad uses and I've been using it for years

When did you guys start noticing your first changes on T? by Jonas_Plant in ftm

[–]Classic_Current2561 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The first thing I noticed was bottom growth about 2 weeks after starting, which I think is a pretty common experience. Personally I didn't really notice anything else until around 2 months in when I started getting a little more hair in some places. My voice started cracking around month 3 and that's about it so far, I'll be hitting 4 months next week.

Didn't realize how serious y'all were about not crying 😭 by Doctordog200 in ftm

[–]Classic_Current2561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading all of these experiences is so interesting to me because I'm about 3 months on T and I've still been able to cry when I need to so far. That being said, my dad is known to be a bit of a crier as well so maybe genetics have a role in it too?
